Linux and LOVEFILM
#1
Sad
Although I just register I silently follow these forums a long time now..
One of the plugins I wanted to see was a LOVEFILM one.
So after realising that LOVEFILM's open API merely gives access to your list and not to streaming I started looking into other ways of implementing it.
The first question was: Will it actually run on my R3700?
So I started fiddling with firefox and Flash.
The answer is yes it runs but it is unwatchable on Full Screen (very low frame rate).
This is of course the case for the LIVE distro cos it runs just fine in Windows.
Whatever I tried to improve this failed to make it watchable although it was improved somewhat.

The final nail in the coffin came yesterday from LOVEFILM though.
They will stop Flash and move to Silverlight.
What that means is that there is no chance of having LOVEFILM in the Linux iterations of XBMC and in fact in any Linux distro.
No, Moonlight won't work if you wonder due to DRM.

I believe this is very relevant to the XBMC community and I will be glad to see peoples opinions here but foremost on LOVEFILMS blog.
I hope this might shake them a bit just this once..

Regards,
