Hi!
I got the same Problem, when i started my HTPC, boblight started and is connected to XBMC, but it doesn´t work! When i´m going back to win7, i must close the start.bat and open Arduino+Strg+Shift+M=RGB Check, after that i open the start.bat and xbmc, then it works!
I have changed the Port manually from Port 3 to Port 1 but no effect!
What can i do?
Is there any other possibility?

Ok, it's working, thx. Is there any other simpler way to make it work and is there any way to enable options like saturation and others?

It´s working? when you start your HTPC with Autostart XBMC and start.bat or you must open arduino etc.?

No. I turned on Arduino and pressed ctrl+shift+m, then closed Arduino and turned on start.bat from Boblight. Then it's working.
How can I turn off LEDs when I close application? After I close it still shines.

When i closed arduino the LEDs are off the Same with the Start.bat only RGB test!
My Problem is the Start i got xbmc and Auto.bat as autostart but boblight doesn't work! Only Manuel Sad

hello to everyone,

i know that i am probably asking something that has been asked many times before, but i just can find a simple - easy answer.

can you please tell me what is the easiest - value for money, way to add 'ambilight' to my xbmc? (a list of things i am going to need?)

i have read the previous pages and the latest one i found was this

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1274108.

but as the guys mention, it is not the best solution (for some reason).

i would like to have a led stripe and not that led balls (they seem pretty ugly)

sorry for asking (probably) an often question again.

I think the cheapest and best way is to go with adalight, you got 25 to 150 individual controlled leds. So the ambilight is very crisp.

Most of the other solutions only got 4 to 8 channels so you got 8 different color zone. I think thats a bumper.

I ordered these parts from different shops (everything from adafruit except the led strand) and you can use the adalight tutorial:
Arudino Uno
2,1/5,5 mm DC Jack Socket Connector
WS2801 Led Strand
Some Wires
5V 2A PSU

I used this led strand (it costs the half from the adafruit one and you got 50 instead of 25 leds)

these led strands are the most ugly thing i have seen. i don't want a Christmas tree behind my tv. this is why i want led stripes.. any suggestions for that?

how about this?

thanks for the help

You know you are supposed to put the LEDs behind the TV right?

Just get strips with WS2801 chips.
And dont expect them too look as good as the LED pixels.

As Teko said, they are behind the tv, i am not able to see mine...

For an 40" TV you need about 3 Meters, so the led strip from adafruit costs you 120 US Dollar.

If ist must be an led strip, than you can use those:

They also use the ws2801 strip and so they are fully compatible with the adalight tutorial.

Is there anyway to tell what revision of boblightd I am using? Ive tried looking in the openelec boblightd addon directory, launching boblightd from the command line and watching the output and and adding a --help switch to the boblightd command (which I think has the same effect as just issuing the boblight command with no switchws) but I havent seens any mention of revision numbers.

Thanks in advance.

ok guys, since the price difference is at least the double price, will i be able to cover my 40'' TV with the one regnets suggested?

i will try to find a way to make them look acceptable. (yes yes i know it is going to be behind the TV, but still Smile )

and how many pixels should be placed on each side? ( i guess as much as i can fit)

thanks again for your help
