[RELEASE] Official XBMC boblight Addon
Wink
Not sure if this appropriate or not, and I apologize if it isn't ...

After tinkering with my own Boblight setup for a while, I got fed up with having to either manually edit the config file or use a virtual machine to run a (good) Windows tool for this. So I wrote my own (runs in Windows, MacOS X and Linux). Boblight Config Maker looks the same under Win/Mac/Linux.

You can download it here where you'll also find instructions on how to use it.

Are you going to tell us your error message?

I seem to have it running now, wasn't getting an error at that point the issue was that here:

$ cd ~ $ svn checkout http://boblight.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ boblight-read-only

this command was not working for me

I'd post how I got it to go but can't remember exactly what it was that did it

Awesome app, Hansaplast.

Is anyone noticing that Boblight conf doesn't seem to be respecting "turn off when not on menus"?

After exiting video, it seems to love to blink furiously as it attempts to understand background fanart on menus, which I'd really like to disable once and for all.

Thanks guys for the kind words. Hope it helps anyone working with Boblight ...
Feel free to leave comments on my website incase you're running into bugs or are looking for extra features.
I created it mostly because with my Boblight setup (290 LEDs), I just got tired of editing the conf file :-)
Thank goodness for Lazarus Pascal, making it easy to recompile for other platforms ;-)

Very nice, I could've used that a few days ago when I was figuring out how to setup my lightpack ;-)

Hey guys could use a little help getting setup, running xbmcbuntu and at this point I've got boblightd installed as well as the boblight xbmc addon (on same machine). I've used hansaplasts tool to create a config which I then modified to suit 2 lightpacks.

Code:

I had previously tested with 1 lightpack and some default lightpack config found with boblight, I did manage to get the addon to connect and display static colour. However, currently the addon tells me it cannot find boblightd. I don't know if i need to run boblightd manually before activating the addon, but I've tried to run sudo boblightd through putty which appears to be ok - but the addon won't seem to work with it still.

Code:

what doesn't seem to make it to the log but i can see in the putty window is this message which results from starting the addon

Code:

and from the xbmc log

Since I've never worked with lightpack, please let me know any bugs in the app, so I might be able to add features or fix bugs ... :-)

serial 95230303231351317160

delayafteropen  100000

I think you have to correct the [device] sections first since they are wrong.

Here's my [device] sections from my boblight.conf file--it is from a 100% working (both Frodo and Gotham versions of OpenELEC!) dual lightpack setup.
Code:
[device]
name LPR
channels 30
type lightpack
interval 16667
#serial 95230303231351A041E0
bus 3
address 3

[device]
name LPL
channels 30
type lightpack
interval 16667
#serial 9523030323135111F1F0
bus 3
address 4

Some mistakes I spotted in your config:
1. There should be only 30 channels per LP. Red, Green, and Blue; and 10 light strips. Each light strip has three LED's, but they are addressed as a single unit.

2. The bus and address of the two LP's in your setup is identical? From looking at your log, you should have one set at Bus 8 Address 2. The other should be Bus 8 Address 3.

FYI, the serial number doesn't seem to work or matter with the LP. I couldn't get everything to work correctly using the serial number--you have to set the correct Bus and Address for both LP's.

I've just updated the Windows version of "Boblight Config Maker" addressing a minor bug for users that ran into the “1.0 is an invalid float” error message when creating a conf file. I totally forgot about the decimal point to be different in other countries. My apologies.
