my original question was targeted to kikixx because he had problems with multiple monitors.
I did try both of them just in case - but the current one that's installed:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wsnipex/xbmc-xvba
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc xbmc-bin
Which I think from my understanding is the one I should be using?
I don't think my set up is particularly unusual, HDTV is an output on my AV receiver, PC gfx HDMI out into the AV receiver and PC gfx DVI out to monitor.
It appears in the list as "CRT2" (my DVI) and "DFP2" (my HDTV).
As I said, it's so butterly smooth with this version I really don't mind - just wondered if I was doing something inherently stupid. I can still start it in windowed mode (or switch to windowed mode, physically drag it over to HDTV and then switch to fullscreen which does the job the script used to do.
edit: re-read the first post and I must have missed the testing build - I've installed that now instead after removing the other repo, I'm now on http://ppa.launchpad.net/wsnipex/xbmc-xv...ing/ubuntu raring
Although, still have the same behaviour it seems except on the testing branch I've got no hdmi audio now!
Cheers,
