I would like to associate a specific file type with one of my addons (e.g. .nzb) and have a hard time figuring out how.
I have been looking into the playercorefactory.xml but apparently there is no way to start a addon.
In android applications have the possibility to define intent filters for the mime types and URI's they should be associated with (intent filters).
Imagine having similar capabilities in XBMC. A addon like youtube could define a filter for youtube urls and then e.g. when lisiting a rss feed with a youtube link the addon would be launched and took care about all the background magic.
In my case my usenet streaming addon would associate it self with .nzb files and inform XBMC the addon is the player.
Integration with the scarpers would allow the option to add streaming links to the xbmc library..
I just wanted to reflect a few Ideas and hope you find them interesting...
