Can you stop XBMC from creating Addons.db?
#1
Hey guys, I'm trying to get XBMC to recognize my self-generated nfo's for my music videos. I've been scouring the web trying to figure this out on my own, however I've had no luck so posting this was my last resort (since I know its been addressed before...unfortunately those solutions have not worked for me).

First off, I created nfo files for each of my music videos with the XBMC Music Video XML Creator :

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=103954

I then followed the instructions on the XMDB wiki to delete and/or rename Addons.db so that I could disable the MTV Scraper, however the Addons.db file keep recreating itself every time I start XBMC! I never get the prompt to disable the MTV Scraper.

Anyone know how I can prevent this?

Edit:

I have disabled updating Addons and Libraries when starting XBMC, however the Addons.db file still gets created.

uhm, of course Addons.db gets created. it's not like that is a database which only holds the info about the mtv scraper..........

if you don't get any question to disable the mtv scraper that's cause the mtv scraper isn't even around, so you have no issues.

XBMC always creates a new database if it sees one missing. You should be able to disable the scraper by selecting "None" on your source setting.
Mythbuntu doesn't need viruses - we have Sudo

What page tells you to delete Addons.db?

Just delete the MTV scraper from the /xbmc/addons/ folder

Thanks for the responses guys, but I'm still having trouble. I followed the instructions from the XBMC Wiki for Music Videos:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Mus...eo_Library)

It says "The MTV scraper no longer works but you need it for scraping music video nfo files. This is the current workaround: Find your userdata folder (see http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Profile_Directory), open the Database folder and move or rename Addons.db. Start XBMC and you should get a prompt to disable the MTV scraper. Answer "No". The MTV scraper won't do anything useful, but this should make your .nfo files work."

Strangely enough, the MTV scraper doesn't exist in the Addons folder, yet it still appears whenever I add "music videos" as a source.
