Questions about first build
#1
Hi,

After reading a lot on this forums i decided to build my first htpc
These are the components i like to use:

case:Streacom F1C (same as Wesena Mini ITX7-2)
power: streacom pico psu 150w + adapter
cpu/gpu: AMD A-Series A6 3650 2.6GHz 4MB FM1
motherboard: Asrock A75M-ITX
ram: Kingston HyperX 4 GB DDR3-1600
ssd: Patriot PT232GS25SSDR (Light-Retail, Torqx 2)
hdd: Seagate ST1500DL003 - 3.5inch

My questions:

- Is the 150w pico psu sufficient? and is there an alternative for the pricey 75€ streacom psu and adapter?
-Can i fit the 3.5 hdd and ssd in the case? It says it can, but what about the airflow?
-What cpu cooler can i use in this case? it looks that it hasn't got lot's of space between the cpu and the 3.5hdd so i dont know wich cooler to choose.
-Should i use a ssd for xbmc or a usb-stick (3.0)?
-Should i buy the streacom ir receiver an remote for 22€ and then buy an extra logitech harmony or just buy another ir receiver + the harmony?

I know a lot of questions, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

well, i wouldnt go for a 100W TDP APU...
i'd stick to 65W like the A6-3500 or A6-36000...

check Bakinus's HTPC thread,
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=115793
he's using the Wesena ITX7 case.

but a good APU cooler is the Thermaltake MeORB...
another low profile cooler is the SCYTHE KOZUTI SCKZT-1000.

about SSD's for windows, definitely recommend using it!
32GB is enough if your not a gamer.

as for remote solutions,
i just created a thread that lists some,

-Why not taking a 100W TDP APU? because i was thinking of the A8.

-Maybe someone has a good alternative picopsu?
cause i think the wesena is really expensive...

-About the remote... I'm still have doubts about the nyxxboard and my own remote with flirc.

i know, but look at this picture here
Image
it IDLES at ~36W but,
running benchmarks like 3DMark Vantage or a torture test like Prime 95 64-bit
the power draw jumps up to 135W and 157W..
If your going to use a 150W pico psu,
better to have a little HeadRoom and go for a 65W TDP APU.
thats my opinion..
