I've spent ages on this, so here is my opinion.

I found the best anaglyph solution to be the Colorcode system - the glasses are relatively cheap, and they use a left-eye amber and right-eye blue - the blue is depth parallax and the left amber lens lets through the vast majority of colour.

If your PC can do the conversion on the fly (you might need a quad core), stereoscopic player using the amber/blue Dubois anaglyph method is the best you will get from Anaglyph - you will even get proper popout. I know several people for whom the blue lens is too strong however. I've seen no real problems with SBS content, and still us this system on my 2d PC monitor.

Failing that, this 3d tv, which I eventually went with for the living room, is really really good for the price:
