After running out of drive letters on my windows server, i had to do some re-shuffling of drive letters and mount points. I made sure i did keep the same share names since my sources are all smb sources.
After the re-shuffle, i added some new TV Shows and they weren't being picked up. Usually when that happens, i go to Set Content, enable the "Run Automated Scan", click ok and XBMC asks if i want to refresh all the data. I say no and it then scans and finds the new stuff.
This time, it did NOT ask me if i wanted to refresh and just started re-importing everything. All my info is stored in local .nfos
After the scan finished, i had a bunch of "cross-linked" entries. What i mean by that is i would select a show, ie Hell on Wheels and all the episodes were doubled. The 1st Episode 1 was Hell on Wheels but the 2nd Episode 1 was Person of Interest!
Same thing was going on with all the shows who's drive or mount point had changed physically but were still the same smb share.
Steps to reproduce :
- Put TV Shows in D:\TV Shows and share it as TV Shows 01
- Put TV Shows in E:\TV Shows and share it as TV Shows 02
- Put TV Shows in F:\TV Shows and share it as TV Shows 03
- Create a source called TV Shows and add the 3 shares as :
smb://SERVER/TV Shows 01/
smb://SERVER/TV Shows 02/
smb://SERVER/TV Shows 03/
- Scan the shows to the library.
- Check that everything is working fine.
Now create 3 folders on G: drive :
G:\TV Shows 01
G:\TV Shows 02
G:\TV Shows 03
- Mount your previous D: drive to G:\TV Shows 01
- Mount your previous E: drive to G:\TV Shows 02
- Mount your previous F: drive to G:\TV Shows 03
You should now have the following folder structure :
G:\TV Shows 01\TV Shows
G:\TV Shows 02\TV Shows
G:\TV Shows 03\TV Shows
Rename them like so :
G:\TV Shows 01\TV Shows 01
G:\TV Shows 02\TV Shows 02
G:\TV Shows 03\TV Shows 03
Now share them as TV Shows 01, TV Shows 02 and TV Shows 03
- Go back to XBMC and Scan for New Content
- Change Content on the TV Shows source.
Just enable "Run Automated Scan" and choose ok.
It will not ask you about refreshing and will rescan everything and the cross-linked episodes should appear.
