Check this google search link, I did a search for the error I am seeing in your log file, from what I can see may be related to the youtube addon it can muck things up somehow I think it is being worked on, you may have to download the addon and install manually it should allow the install of the common plugin cache

Hopefully this helps clear things up.

So, this could be what causing my BRRip movies to buffer w/ Crystal HD?
I'll just go ahead and uninstall the Youtube plugin and re check my log file.

Thanks Hudson!

its worth a shot, is the only media that is having buffering issues your blu ray media rips? I am assuming that you have a wired connection as you have the crystal hd card installed? One thing that has worked for me in the past when I have buffering issues is to power cycle the router.

If you go to line 425 you'll start seeing CHD errors.

Thanks,

Does anyone know how to check 'dmesg' through putty? I searched Google for it but, couldn't find anything that could help. I just want to make sure that my Crystal HD card is working because, my last log file shows CHD card not opening or something! near line 425, see attached link.

just want to make sure of a few things, I am assuming that you are using the atv xbmc launcher and not a custom build like crystalbuntu. If that is the case you should be able to update the crystal hd card drivers from the xbmc menu if memory serves then power cycle the machine.

With the selection of the crystal HD drivers what is the current revision number for them?

also, when looking through your log file I am seeing some audio errors what is your setup for the audio now? An incorrect audio setting can cause playback to shudder. Currently my ATV running crystalbuntu audio is set to Defaults (ALSA) Custom with Plughw :0,3 and the xbmcbuntu audio settings are HDA Nvidia-HDMI-0 (ALSA) both of my machines are audio over HDMI.

It would appear that the majority of your errors are related to audio settings...thats where I would start looking, good old trial and error

Best of Luck

is all your media acting screwy? again at this point I would look at your sound setup if you have the wrong one selected it can cause screwed up playback.

Ned, were you able to test out your new ATV1 with CHD?

Hudson, I am not sure whats going on but, I copied my 720p file to local ATV1 HDD and it ran very smooth. It seems that it is having hard time getting file from NAS SMB server. Because, lately I am have trouble getting SD movie file of the NAS. I need to dig into this little more and find the problem, because i need all the files in one single location.

Thanks for all your help!!!

Think I'd like to take the plunge and get one of the Crystal HD cards. Is there a reliable online source or eBay source that you guys are happy with? And is there only one specific card part number and/or manufacturer? Like atv240's 70015 card? Oh yeah... whats the going best price?

Logic Supply is the only way to go. Much better quality then the junk on eBay. If you keep an eye out, and aren't in a hurry, they do occasionally go on sale. Usually for $29.50 but I have seen them as low as $19.50.
The XBMC team, plug-in devs, skinners, etc. do this for us for FREE in their spare time because they want to. Think about that for a second before you start bitching...

Thanks guys... I think I will "keep an eye out" LOL for when they go on sale. $40 vs $20 is a big difference. And I'm going to do a clean re-install of the patchstick right to XMBC today or tomorrow and hopefully it'll run just fine.

BTW, is Dharma just an earlier version of XMBC and why I'm asking is _if_ I go with a stable Dharma as opposed to Eden (which a lot of people still say works fine), I can use Confluence as my skin and it'll look the same as it looks when using Eden right? And if I went with Eden... would .v.3 be any more stable than .v.1?
