Help with SATA Power Cables...

So, I have this PSU in my HTPC:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...&Tpk=cx430

It has 4 connections for SATA power. I presently have three used up - two for HDD's and one for a Blu-Ray drive.

I'm looking to put an SSD into my system, but the connectors are paired really, really close together and I would rather mount my SSD in a 3.5 slot (at least for now), rather than use velcro/two sided tape to tape it underneath my Blu-Ray drive. Additionally, in time, I want to add potentially another HDD (at which time I'll revert to velcro)...

To rectify the quandry I'm in, I'm thinking of getting either:

or

...but I'm concerned about the caveat under the description page:

Quote:Warning! The Molex connector provides only 5 and 12 VDC power. While many SATA drives only require these power levels, some require the additional 3.3 VDC power provided for in the SATA specification. Make sure your drive does not require 3.3 VDC before purchasing this adapter cable.

I do have 3 molex connectors presently connected to three fans, but I figure I just disconnect one of them for now and use it for if I go with option 2.

I was wondering if you guys could help me to figure out which cable would be more adequate - if either? The last thing I want to do is fry my PSU attempting to do some crazy cable conversion. I really have no clue regarding voltage when it comes to disk drives.

Thanks!

PS - the SSD I have is the Crucial M4. and the future HDD will likely be a Samsung F4 2tb 5400rpm

well, use a MOLEX splitter

then, hook your FAN to 1 end it and for the other, hook this into it

5V is all that is needed for SSD's & it should work smooth

Thanks.

But, will 5V be enough to power a HDD? Eventually, at the end of the day, I would like to have have the potential to run 3 HDD's, a SSD and my Blu Ray drive on my HTPC.

I can power two HDD's and the Blu Ray drive with the SATA cables included with my PSU, but the third HDD and my SSD would have to run off the other cables...

Thanks for the clarification.

Just to summarize, because I am super paranoid about frying my PSU (sorry).

I need to power additionally, one Samsung F4 2TB Hard drive, and one Crucial M4 SSD.

The F4's power requirements are: Voltage: +5V ?±5%, +12V ?±10%
The SSD's power requirements are: Voltage: 5V ±5% (I think)

I'd be getting this:

and

...and it should work, just like the other SATA connections, even though power is being split from the Molex?

Thanks again.
