Need to enable SSH so I can use WinSCP to get files over onto my Zotac running xbmcubuntu - can someone point me in the right direction please?

Pretty sure it's enabled right out of the box. ssh user@IPADDRESS - example:

ssh [email protected]

SSH works upon install. You just need to go to System Info and SSH to that IP address. You can also drop to a terminal and issue ifconfig to get the IP address of the XBMC box.

Hi
During the install you would have been asked for a user name and password.. If you left them as default they will be xbmc and xbmc respectively..this is for xbmc live... I have no idea if thats changed in other distros

Got this sorted now, also managed to get root enabled and have set password on that now, so ssh and winscp all good.

Unless you know what you are doing, you should never, ever log in as root. If you need to run elevated commands login as a normal user and preempt them with sudo

Exmample: sudo mkdir /var/log/test
