I'm using mythbuntu because for a noobie it seems easier to get samba and vnc working correctly with my W7 MacBook air and iPad. MacBook on lion really didn't like the shares I created under xmbc Eden 3.
After 10 mins or so the screen freezes, sometimes with a black screen, sometimes with a cusor and sometimes with a purple mythbuntu screen with five red dots.
If I press the power button the system will go to the screen showing the shutting down of services and power down cleanly when the slash screen is shown but is unresponsive when black or when xmbc is loaded.
I can hear sounds when I press keys with xmbc loaded but apart from that, nothing.
I get the feeling that its a timing out the x session because vnc is fine the whole time.
The hardware is a Fujitsu q5020, the macmini sized box. Dualcore.
I'm loving xmbc, far better at grabbing meta data than w7 with media browser or media master.
Can anyone help? This is my final hurdle.
Oh, I'm running xmbc loaded from ppa /unstable.
Could also do with help auto mounting a ext4 USB drive.
