I can't find an advancedsettings.xml file in my userdata folder. Can you send me a template?

Not sure why, but according to your log it's not in the usual folder - it's in special://xbmc/system/advancedsettings.xml
which in Win7 will be c:\users\<your_login_name>\appdata\roaming\XBMC\system - you should see it there.

It's usually under c:\users\<your_login_name>\appdata\roaming\XBMC\userdata

Just rename it to advancedsettings.bak.xml and it'll be ignored.

Thanks for the build Damian, but I'm afraid there's no difference. Still the same. Receiver switches to DTS MA on and off, no audio. enablealtsync and "adjust refresh rate to match video" don't help. But I've tried that in previous builds as well. There's no improvement here.

About the only thing I can think of at this point would be to check what your receiver reports as it's capabilities using MonInfo, and posting the info here. Just find the entry for your receiver. It should indicate that it supports DTS-HD/MA. If not we may be running into an EDID bug.

When I select the HDMI output in an AE build it doesn't say something with 'WASAPI' in it's name. However, in DanielaS builds the name of the HDMI output contains the word 'WASAPI' in it. Does this mean something? Don't lough if it's a stupid observation...

There are no stupid questions - your log does show it's using WASAPI, so all good there - we just need to display it in the gui page, but it is using WASAPI okay

Last night I decided to take the plunge (I installed AE in a seperate dir so I can switch easily). I did not have the time to do extensive testing (will have more time this weekend). I noticed 2 things:
1) I cannot switch streams in a MKV movie (from DD to DTS) It says it cannot initialize
2) I noticed small break ups in True HD sound

I will test some more today.

I did some more tests and I found out that playback is perfect when I enable DXVA acceleration. The reason I did not use DXVA is because I get artifacts in my video display (for both MKV and Bluray ISO's).

Can anyone maybe tell me what the settings for AE should be ? (eg. sync to display/video clock (resample etc)

I have Intel i5-2300 mhz cpu and use the built in HD2000 graphics.

I am using the i3-2105 with HD 3000 Graphics and have Sync playback to display disabled, DXVA2 disabled, and Adjust display refresh rate to match video disabled. All of my content works great this way! I use a single M2TS file with one video, one audio, and one PGS stream. All of my content is stored on a Windows Home Server. Both DTS-MA and TrueHD play back flawlessly. I had asked whether XBMC would support the Intel QuickSync path in the future but received no response, so we are stuck with software decoding for now, but it works fine for me.

@Big_Ben and OtisPresley - glad you guys are sharing info on I3 - it's one platform where DXVA2 is a problem, and will be until Intel fixes drivers. With HD Audio formats I do not recommend Sync to Display - it is almost certain to cause dropouts as you cannot resample the audio to match pace with the video clock if there are timing issues on the video side.

Big_Ben - if you can post a log switching tracks i'd be interested in seeing it.

OtisPresley - glad you're not hit with the bug some users are seeing - can I ask what receiver you have?
