@natdeamer - Glad to hear it. That setting (Analog/Optical/HDMI) is really a little redundant / obsolete. We really need to rework some of that, but glad the tip solved your issue.

Hello from Germany,
i have a Question, get any one working DTS-HD MA with the new Intel Celeron G1610? DD & DTS works great but DTS-HD gives me
PCM on my AVR(Yamaha RX-V1073) connected via HDMI.
My Setup:
Windows 8 Pro MCE
Asrock H77M-ITX
CPU Intel Celeron G1610 (ivy Bridge)
Maybe The Celeron can´t handle HD-Audio? Should i try another CPU?
Thank you ...

Hi,
I really hope somebody will be able to solve this for me. Since building my new HTPC (Windows 8 x64) and upgrading to Frodo I've had problems with HD-AUDIO. This is over HDMI to an 2011 Onkyo 5.1 receiver, which supports 5.1 and DTS-HD Master and Dolby True HD, from a Sapphire Radeon HD 6670. I am running CAT 13.1, but have also tried with the Latest Beta drivers and also the last nightly build of XBMC.
The graphics card worked fine in my HP Microserver (Windows 7 x64), and Frodo RC3 passed HD audio via WASAPI just fine. I have the same configuration in XBMC on the new machine, e.g. WASAPI and the radio buttons for HD audio checked. I downgraded to RC3 on the new machine but still problems with the audio. DirectSound works fine but obviously no HD audio.

Any help appreciated!

I suspect the problem is that the driver is only reporting 6 channels, I believe 8 channels for 7.1 is required for XBMC to pass HD audio even if the soundtrack doesn't use the full 8 channels. You could need an EDID override to get the correct channel count.

i have a Question, get any one working DTS-HD MA with the new Intel Celeron G1610? DD & DTS works great but DTS-HD gives me
PCM on my AVR(Yamaha RX-V1073) connected via HDMI.
My Setup:
Windows 8 Pro MCE
Asrock H77M-ITX
CPU Intel Celeron G1610 (ivy Bridge)
Maybe The Celeron can´t handle HD-Audio? Should i try another CPU?
Thank you ...
As far as I can see the that CPU hasn't got Intel Integrated Graphics, so what is providing your HDMI connectiion?

Good catch

there is a bug i have for a long time now:
Playing back movies with a PCM Track (like casino royale) over wasapi results in stuttering and no sound ( my receiver shows 0 channels )
It works when I deactivate pcm support ( for transcoding ) or change the playback device to directsound.
Having this issue on all recent nightlies, with windows 7 and 8 with a E350 setup.
Is this a known error or do you need a debug log?
Appreciate your help
kindest regards

I am having the exact same issue and its quite disappointing, in this thread numerious people have brought this up and I did not see any comment on it.
Just curious what is the status on this?
thrak here seemed to be the only one who said he has multichannel lpcm working fine... Out of 5 people on this thread he seems to be the only one.

I have to think this is an xbmc/wasapi issue, as soon as i played the same file in arcsoft tmt it plays fine...
Its just multichannel lpcm and wasapi thats not working over hdmi.... my avr is denon 3311, windows machine Amd A10 5800k.

Actually nevermind i guess...
Remuxed to mkv working fine.
Bluray folders/iso however caused me to recieve the above issue, as well as trying to play the main mt2s file with multi lpcm....
So I am guessing the bug only applies to multichannel lpcm, wasapi, mt2s file/bluray folders/iso files..

Hello I have some audio dropouts on flac music and also .mkv movies (bluray ut).
Could anybody be so kind to check the log? Just changed subtitles with "L" after the dropout.
I also don't understand why XMBC changes from 48KHz to 192KHz for 8 channel DTS-HD?

I am not using Windows, My setup is:
Lubuntu 13.04 Raring Tail
Asrock B75M-ITX
CPU Intel Celeron G1610T
It is connected to Yamaha RX-V1900 receiver via HDMI and I have DTS-MA and DTS-HD without problem, tested with DTS Demostration Disc 16 and 17. Also, it plays Dolby TrueHD but sometimes the video is not smooth.

Just as another user, I can confirm bitstreaming HD sound as LPCM from a LPCM soundtrack is working correctly for me from my N40L using Windows 7 to my Audiolab 8000AP.
In fact this functionality is critical for me as my receiver cannot accept bit-streamed DTS-HD MA or TruHD, only LPCM. I've started transcoding some multichannel sound tracks to LPCM (using EAC3to and the Arcsoft codec, remuxing back into the original MKV) but it is time consuming and a bit of a pain.
Is it possible for XBMC to convert DTSHD-MA and TruHD to LPCM on the fly and bitstream LPCM through HDMI? I assume the correct codecs would be required but just asking

XBMC can convert TrueHD to LPCM on the fly, however with DTS-HD MA only the core DTS can be converted to LPCM.
The issue with DTS-HD MA uis because no open source decoder is available for XBMC to utilise, just about every application offering DTS-HD MA decoding uses the Arcsoft codec dll
Btw, have you tried MakeMKV? I believe it can create mkv's with LPCM or FLAC and would be a one step process.

Fantastic thanks, I've used MakeMKV many time in the past but missed this important (for me) update. Ive read here and looks good. i won't be able to try it until the weekend but I will update when I do.
