Ubuntu 11.10 and xbmc
#1
I am new in this forum and, first of all, I wanna say hello to everybody.

I have a xbmc (2:11.0-pvr) problem under Ubuntu 11.10 (kernel 3.0.0-16).

I used xbmc under Ubuntu 11.04 and I have the chance to auto login using xbmc-standalone. It worked smoothly. When I choosed exit, in xbmc, the computer was back to gdm and I was able to login into ubuntu with my personal account and do some system maintenance.

Now Ubuntu 11.10 uses lightdm as desktop manager. I am able to set it up to autologin to ubunt-standalone but now, when I choose exit, after few seconds, xbmc is back and I have not the chance to login in Ubuntu anymore.

Have you any idea howto solve this problem ?

thanks in advance

cheers

Hey,

I am using XBMC with Xubuntu 11.10 Smile
I'am doing it like this:

just >autologin< and then >autostart xbmc<

when exiting XBMC I'm at the Desktop and here I can do whatever I want (maintenance for example).

Wouldn't this do it for you?

Thank you Pyromaniac,
Your idea is to use xbmc after loaded ubuntu desktop. It is fine, but using xbmc-standalone is better because it use less cpu (it does not load ubuntu desktop).
This is why I would like to load xbmc-standalone directly from lightd.
many thanks
