Buffering on Eden RC2 and N40L
#1
So ive been using RC2 fine with no issues for a while now. However i just got a new HP N40L server, moved all my data to it and set xbmc to point to this new source. Now all 720p and up content is buffering almost every 20 seconds. I moved 2 movies back to the original pc just to test and they infact played fine without issue. So i know it has something to do with the server but just cant figure out what. Below is the config if anyone has any thoughts.

HP N40L
OS: Windows Home Server 2011
Ram: 4GB DDR3 1333
HD: 2, 2tb in a raid 1
Software: Sickbeard and Sabnzbd installed and running (issue still happens with them not running)

ATV2:
4.2.1
Eden RC2
Installed with apt-get
Network: Directly connected (Wireless has the same issue)
SMB for sources (Tested with NFS as well)

I was able to grab the log from work. Debugging is not enabled, but looking at the log it appears the ATV2 is waiting for packets and they are not being sent.

Ill have to wait till i get home to turn on debugging.

Here is the debug log:

Also i tested with NFS shares and updated the nic driver with the same result.

The data packet error is not necessarily network related. It can be reported when the system struggles to keep the audio and video in synch and is forced to flush the cache to get the video to catch up to the audio.

However, it is strange that the server switch caused this. It looks like your also performing a library update while you're playing the file. Have you tried the file without the update library running in the background? Also check the FAQ for the buffering fixes.

Yeah i noticed that too (library update). Ill turn off the library update and try again, but i know it plays fine on the old system during the library update. Ive tried everything in the performance and buffering section here: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBM...ecific_FAQ except deleting the cache. I figured that wasent it since it worked on 1 box and not the other (ill delete just to be sure).

Heres a media info of the movie as well

Any other info i could gather to help track down the problem?

I'm by no means an expert, but it seems that this one could potentially be network related since I don't really see anything. It should play that file fine and it did on your other server. Hopefully others can chime in and offer other solutions/things to check.

So it's definitely server related. I swapped my system drive and both mirrored drives into another N40L i had and everything worked totally fine. Ill try upgrading the firmware tonight on the N40L thats not playing the way it should and let everyone know the result. Worst case is i will ship the broken N40L back for a replacement.

Hi, having the same issue here, although strangely enough i can stream to my WDTV Live no problems, the aTV however is unable to play any of it without stuttering (unwatchable).

SD content is fine.
