Linux XBMCBuntu Buffering Issue
#1
Hi Guys!

I have been following the XBMC project now since Eden Beta 1 and love it.

I however have the following problem, which with Beta 1 was not present.

Situation:

Have root Server running Windows 2008 R2 on a 100 Mbit Connection (10 MB/s)
My XBMC Client is here at my place on a 32 Mbit Connection (4 MB/s)

The files that I play off the Server are MKV videos which are somewhere between 6 and 8 GB big

------

When I use my windows computer and VLC to play the files directly off the server, then it works like a charm.

When I used XBMC Eden Beta 1 to do the same thing, it also worked like a charm.

Now when I try to the same with the Final I have serious buffering issues. It plays 10 seconds of the movie and that was it.

To solve the problem I have tried adding an advancedsettings.xml file to tell XBMC to cache 1 GB of data, but that somehow isn't working.

Anyone have some tips as to where I could look to get this solved?

BadUncleJessy,

I also have a buffering issue. Where did you make the switch?

Erm, not really in front of my computer right now so I cant give you step by step instructions.

However, when you add files to the database you have to add the location. And when you add the location you can choose between different network protocols (SMB, FTP aso.)

You just add the FTP server to your database und select the folders from the FTP source with the movies, music, tv shows etc.

Question on the side: Do you have a similiar setup?

badunclejessy,

Thanks for the question. No, I don't have a similiar set-up. I am just looking to see how people are handling the buffering issue.
