Allwinner A10 : Is XBMC ported to MALI-400MP ?
Team XBMC should go into business selling "XBMC certified" set top boxes... Partner up with one of these manufactures and get real insider access. I'd gladly pay a few more bucks for the box I know has full support. I'd venture I am not alone here.

Cheers!

Pivos provided the primary development for XBMC on Android (http://xbmc.org/theuni/2012/07/13/xbmc-for-android ), then popped out XBMC on Pivos/Linux (https://github.com/Pivosgroup). You want full support, look no further.

so what is this from Miniand:

"Tom Cubie from Allwinner posted on 14/8 the following links to source code, which I have already downloaded :
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/65312725/a10_decoder.tar.gz
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/65312725/cedarx_lib.tgz
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/65312725/libve.tgz

The libve tarball contains the source and documentation for libve, as well as a demo. The Makefile is dated 12 June 2012, so I believe that's the latest source code they have, and that's what gimli should already have received, but all these files are freely available to all developers, not only for the XBMC project"

if that is June 12 files, it seems they should be the latest..

Nothing new in it.

So... will there be HW support in Android through the same way MX player does?

Allwinner is telling to support us. Here are the facts :

1.) We told them what changes we need.
2.) They promised changes. Several times.
3.) We got a zip file with a claimed new lib.
4.) The file dates in the zip file are from May and don't show any changes.
5.) Request for ChangeLog ended in an anwser with sorry no ChangeLog.

So reality is, Allwinner was just kidding on us, nothing else.

The joke continues :

They told us that the date on their build server is wrong.
The intresting fact is, that i got https://dl.dropbox.com/u/65312725/a10_decoder.tar.gz long ago from Tom Cubie.
Guess what, same md5sum and file date. So at the end of the day, their support claim was a big fat lie.

Feel free to tell them what you think about that and spread the truth around.

For my part i sugest, support Pivos. They give support back. Allwinner is a one way road.

The libve-file looks pretty much the same as the a10_decoder file, but some files are changed and dated at 11/06. Can you tell me if both tar's contain the same functional files or they are 2 different things?

I'm confused. If MX player uses common Android functionality to make H/W decoding possible on the A10 why wouldn't this be possible with XBMC?
Well, I can think of a few reasons, but they are far too negative. There must be a logical reason, right?

Thanks for the update. I will attempt to stay persistently optimistic -- sometimes it take a long time for an organization to get themselves in order around some new directive. I hope that it is only a matter of not being able to execute properly on Allwinner's part. However, I can't ignore that they have failed to deliver on their promises yet. I have purchased an Mele A100 box to play around with; but XBMC seems unlikely until Allwinner is able to deliver.

I will be purchasing a Pivos box:
1) To reward their awesome display of support.
2) To reward their ability to execute
3) It runs XBMC! (to reward me with an XBMC box)

If Allwinner is monitoring this forum:

I could be purchasing 2 or 3 more of the Mele's for Set-Top-Box and a few Tablets if this issue had been worked out -- I'll keep watching.

This is pure tecnical, we focus on using OpenMAX on Android. Allwinner doesn't have working OpenMAX components, as far as i know.

Fantastic, then not all is lost:

Well, that's quite a disappointment. I had my hopes up for a working XBMC on my Mele A1000 but now it's pretty useless. Even under Android I can't get it properly working. I'll wait until XBMC for Ouya or Pivos is a definitive go before I'll purchase something again.
Anyone got some creative ideas on what to use the Allwinner devices for now?

Well im on the same boat as you, i wanted to see if i can use one of my old tablets for XBMC and well, N7Basic even has a IR remote, and i think it uses OpenMAX, but its a JZ4770 mips and its a no go as long XBMC need to use crytax NDK, i cant even try. My Aurora can run XBMC but no HW decoding Sad

oh well...
