lirc-modules-source problem
#1
Hello,

I just fresh installed Eden and got everything working but my remote. I previously did this by following these instructions and it worked flawlessly afterwards:

http://doityourselfhtpc.com/2010/12/22/a...xbmc-live/

I was following the same procedure to get my remote working again but ran into a little snag. When running

sudo apt-get instal lirc-modules-source

I got the following response:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package lirc-modules-source is not available, but is referred to by another pack
age.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
lirc

E: Package 'lirc-modules-source' has no installation candidate

I currently have lirc installed and I cannot proceed without lirc-modules-source.

This is the same IR setup that is in the ASRock 330HT. Has anybody else ran into this or figured out how to get their remote working?

The way remotes are handled has changed with newer kernels... Try this guide http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=104541

Thank you!

Had to combine it with some stuff from here:

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?pid...3pid798760

But I eventually got it working!

Any ideas on how do I get the power button to shut down vs. go to XBMCbuntu login?

Or any way to completely block this function so it only uses XBMC and not XBMCbuntu?

Remote power button or PC case button?

I would like it to do a complete shutdown from either. I have no intent on using the Linux functionality on this. I just want to use XBMC like I used to and would like the power buttons to power the system down completely like they used to.

You can set xbmc's shutdown behaviour in the system settings, under power saving I believe.
