I'm wondering about this, I'm using xbmc as a upnp media server (when at my gf). By the TV I have a media extender (seagates home theatre), it supports subtitles. I have all my media on an external HDD but would prefer not to have it shuttling back and forth, that's why I'm using xbmc as the media server on the workstation. However, I'm always having hard of hearing the dialogue so I use subtitles. The subtitles are saved beside the media and works in XBMC, is there any way of having the media extender play the file through the network and still have the subtitles brought along? I probably can combine the subtitle with the media file with some third party software, but it's probably more hassle than bringing the hdd back and forth.
