The 295 drivers do work, but they only work for some people (like me). You'll just have to try them and see.

I have a problem , not sure if its AE related but, on occasion when I press play on a file (stream,video or audio) the video stops, but the audio continues to play in the background for a short while then xbmc hard locks - I have to physically power down the machine (remote stops working,ssh stops and cpu usage climbs), it seems to be getting progressively worse.

Sounds like one of the problems that I encountered lately see this thread http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...ight=vdpau long story short I disabled VDPAU and VAAPI (just in case) about three weeks ago and haven't seen a video freeze and the audio continue since. As per that thread there is a fix waiting to be merged into git but it changes alot of code and is awaiting review so that it doesn't break more stuff than it fixes. Depending on your hardware disabling VDPAU might not be possible if your computer isn't that powerful, on my system I don't notice any preformance difference at all. Just a headsup.

Running XBMCBuntu with the 295.40 driver - been doing so in this format with Audio Engine since before it was merged with master.

I tried specifying <audiophile>1</audiophile> in audio section of advancedsettings for the first time, and then I rebooted.

Results:
All normal 44khz/16bit played fine.
No 5.1 flac files would play.
Some 2ch 24bit/96Khz files would play, but in slow motion, stuttering its way through.
Other 2ch > 44/16 would play fine, and still others would not play at all.

Once I deleted the audiophile parameter from advancedsettings and rebooted, everything went back to playing fine again.

Is this a known issue, and/or is it a Windows only platform setting which isn't supposed to be used on Linux?

Hey All,

I am running the latest nvidia_current driver on myth 11.10 built xbmc with dush's latest pvr git and everything works fine here. some little quirks but none I believe are ae related and I use rapier. I am using a C2d 7400 on a P5N7A-VM with GT430 on hdmi. My 5.1 7.1 flacs seem fine I have not tried them all but what I did are ok, most were pcm uncompressed movies encoded to FLAC.

I have to say I re-encoded all my music BD's the Dave Matthews live at radio city in TrueHD 5.1EX at 96/24 sounds AMAZING. It brought stuff out with Tim Reynolds guitar work that I never ever heard with FLAC. SUPER SUPER SUPER work Gnif and all the rest - Hats off to you guys. UGGGHHH - but you made me spend another month getting my new server on-line having to re-encode all my HD movies, the WAF is complaing about the hydro bill with three servers running in the basement - LOL. I am bummed that most of my HD-dvd's are DD+ and not true hd, I never noticed that previously.

I tried the latest git version with AudioEngine integrated and with AC-3 streams I get constant sound stuttering and synchro problems. Also the quality of sounds the menu itself makes seems to have decreased (some sort of weird conversion taking place?). I use an analog 5.1 output.

Hi,

A platform Sandy Bridge is support with AE and DTS/DTS-HD/DTS-MA sound, because I have problem with this.
I can't hear a sound if I play all movies with DTS soundtrack. AC-3 works correct.

Hi,

I run Arch Linux with the radeon driver for my HD4670.
All up to date.

With standard configuration options, AE only sees my Intel Audio output (from my motherboard) and not my AMD HDMI output that I use.
It also doesn't allow me to specify a custom one, like I can in Eden.

Compiling with pulse support now to see what it does.


Edit: so with pulse support I only get pulse choices for audio output, which includes default and my HDMI output.
"Standard" sounds then works but no passthrough.
Suspending PA before starting xbmc no longer works, as xbmc only sees PA outputs...
Therefore for now, I cannot use this :/

I am using a GT210 ION with the 290.10 NVIDIA drivers. In previous versions I had to specify plughw:X,7 as a custom output device in order to get audio over HDMI. I compiled the latest git version and I cannot seem to get any sound to output anymore and I cannot specify a custom audio device anymore either. From the xbmc log it looks as if the AE is selecting a different device (X,3). I can still use speaker-test to output sound to plughw:X,7 but I have no idea how to get AE to pipe sound to the correct device anymore. All I have is generic HDMI devices in the audio options and it looks like no matter which i select it still uses X,3 not X,7 for playback. Any ideas for a work around so I can just play SD audio again while still using git versions for the newest features? I'd hate to have to roll back as more than just AE is in the git versions but AE seems to have broken all audio output for me.

No need to get hostile. As you can see I am new to the forum and I didn't know what you may need to troubleshoot. I will post everything you mentioned above in a few hours. The idea is to fix this before Frodo comes out which is why I am here in the first place.

seems to be a lot of issues with intel playback. based on your previous post it seemed like you had nvidia hardware. that said you need to post a full debug log. don't cut and paste, the devs need everything. also, exactly what issues are you having?
