Will 1st Gen ATV be good enough?
#16
Up until recently I've used a hacked native OSX setup. Yeah, it was a lot of time, effort, and tweaking to get the functionality I wanted. I recently tried out Crystalbuntu on ATV1 after being disappointed with XBMC's stability under ATV2. I must say I was very impressed with how easy it was to setup and to get XBMC up and running which I find is all I need now-a-days on ATV1 so the minimal overhead of Crystalbuntu was very welcomed. I'm still waiting on my video card to arrive so that I can enjoy HD content. I would have recommend this to anyone who stays inside of XBMC as this takes very little effort, almost no fiddling or tweaking. Make the USB stick and sit back while it sets your ATV up. Go for the card if you want to and you kick it up a notch.
