Additional codecs? (and Mencoder help?)
#1
Hey all, I just did a search and from what I could find it seems that XBMC doesn't use external codecs. My problem is just that though, I have a TV series that is in VP70 encoded OGM files, which is unplayable in both VLC and XBMC. Is there any workaround to get this to work in xbmc?
I was able to get the files to play on my laptop using Mplayer, and from there I had planned to convert to divx avi's using Mencoder, but after several hours of googling and a whole bunch of playing around I couldn't get mencoder to work AT ALL, so I'm hoping I can skip that step. Any ideas?

As a side note, anybody here know how and feel like spelling out exactly how I can get Mencoder to do this in Windows 7? I'm pretty fluent within Windows environments, but as soon as command line stuff and encoding lingo gets thrown out, I'm pretty useless.

@chibwack-

You can grab the external code from this thread "Playercorefactory for music videos" in post #4 and change the file type in rule to match your media file....
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
