ASRock A75M-ITX Audio Confusion...
#1
Hi Folks,

I'm about 3/4 of the way through my first ever HTPC build (ASRock A75M-ITX, A6 3500 etc. running XBMCbuntu 11.10 - latest version?) and I find myself in a bit of a pickle with the audio - here's hoping some kind soul can help!

aplay -l returns the following: -

Code:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Generic [HD-Audio Generic], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: Generic_1 [HD-Audio Generic], device 0: ALC892 Analog [ALC892 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: Generic_1 [HD-Audio Generic], device 1: ALC892 Digital [ALC892 Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

but when I look in the XBMC Audio settings I see: -

Code:
HD-Audio Generic - hdmi -1 (ALSA)
HD-Audio Generic - iec958 -1 (ALSA)
HD-Audio Generic - default -1 (ALSA)
HD-Audio Generic - hdmi -0 (ALSA)
HD-Audio Generic - iec958 -0 (ALSA)
HD-Audio Generic - default -0 (ALSA)
HD-Audio Generic - hdmi -3 (ALSA)
HD-Audio Generic - iec958 -3 (ALSA)
HD-Audio Generic - default -3 (ALSA)
hdmi (ALSA)
iec958 (ALSA)
Defaults (ALSA)
Custom

I "think" I get the aplay "device" relationship with the options in XBMC and have so far managed to get analog audio over HDMI and 5.1 over digital to my AV amp (AC3 and DTS passthrough) working but the analog audio has me stumped!

I'd like to be able to use the box with headphones on occasion, but nothing I try produces a squeak out of the 3.5mm audio jacks.

Please can someone wind me up and point me in the right direction...

Ta!
