That motherboard does not have an HDMI output to connect directly to your TV. You can use a DVI to HDMI converter, but you'll be lacking audio through HDMI.

You can compile all the components for an A6-3500 build with a decent case for about that price without their special combo deal and have a case you'll be much happier with in your home theater system.
HTPC 1 - AMD A8-3870K, ASRock A75M, Silverstone ML03B, Kingston HyperX 4GB DDR3 1866, Crucial M4 64GB SSD
HTPC 2 - HP Stream Mini, 6GB Ram
unRAID 6 Server - Intel Celeron G1610, 20TB Storage

That's an insanely high price for the RAM ... i guess prices have gone up again?

I woudl also suggest putting a package together, yourself. That case is only 30 bucks on it's own, currently.

The price is below the item....

>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

lol I thought the same thing about the ram price from the post too. But then I saw the hard drive looks like it is only $25 and decided to look at the actual combo on Newegg's site. (Hoping to buy a few at that price) The prices are just mismatched in his post a bit.

The PSU is overpriced and overkill for the components.

The better Gigabyte boards end with -UDHx (and I like Gigabyte for HTPC because it does not blink the LED in S3)

This is faster and better GSkill DDR3 1333 2x2GB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820231180 (CL8 8-8-8-21) but an AMD APU really needs DDR3 1866 if the motherboard supports it - the iGPU depends heavily on the shared memory speed.

The tower is just OK and not really HTPC worthy IMHO.

I like that HDD and APU though if it's just for O/S and not storage I'd get an SSD hands-down over any mechanical drive. Once you go SSD you'll never go back.

Word.
Thanks for the thoughts.

Figured that would be the case.

Headed on vacation on two weeks. When I return, I'm going to jump in. I'll post up then looking for some help to spend my money.

I like it a lot.... $450 stings a bit though.
I might look into another case so that I don't need to go with a pico.
