tech242 what i would say is make sure you start out with a fresh git clone of xbmc with no patches applied
if patches don't apply then go in by hand figure out which one it is and manually apply it
for me it was only that one patch

yes you need to build without --disable-xrandr, but if you have the other set of patches applied then you will get issues with xrandr
you can manually compile with a 'make kodi-xrandr', then make install will succeed otherwise it will stop at a certain point and the install will be incomplete, maybe that is perhaps what you're experiencing

I've try to update the docker xbmc-server to kodi / new ubuntu LTS
* ubuntu 14.04
* kodi 14.0b3

Here is the repo

https://github.com/Celedhrim/docker-xbmc...mits/helix

All build successfully but xbmc-server and xbmcVideoscanlibrary segfault Sad

Code:
root@80f92061b2b9:/opt/xbmc-server# ./xbmcVideoLibraryScan --no-test --nolirc -p
Segmentation fault
root@80f92061b2b9:/opt/xbmc-server# ./xbmcVideoLibraryScan --no-test --nolirc

Starting Video Library Scan

Segmentation fault

I'm not a C developper , so at this point I don't know what to do to progress.

If my work at this point can help ... Smile

I get the same thing too, but I'm following cyanlabs guide on Ubuntu 14.04 with Gotham.

dos2unix solve the fatal error , but au new one raise after file conversion

I don't know why it doesn't apply.
All seems ok when I look Makefile.in and your patch

I don't know... I've probably failed copy/paste to pastebin as i have successfuly applied this patch on beta 3 this week... I'll give it a look when i'll be at home.

Yeah, tried with a new git clone and that worked better (but not completely). Patch applied without errors and building both kodi and kodi-xrandr worked. Make install completed without errors but running kodi --headless segfaults. One interesting part of the segfault is
Code:
Error: unable to open display

Hi ,

I now have a successfully build of kodi headless in docker.

See here : https://github.com/Celedhrim/docker-xbmc...tree/helix

I have to modify the 5071 patch a little bit ( from here https://github.com/wernerb/docker-xbmc-server/issues/5 )

Kodi v14 Helix was released this morning. I've searched through the thread and am having trouble pinpointing exactly how I can get a separated video scan binary I can run to update my library, similar to how I was able to run XbmcVideoLibraryScan in xbmc Gotham. I never used the docker for that, but is that the best way moving forward?

I can't get the latest commit (the one where it went to final) to build

Code:
checking build system type...
x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking host system type...
x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
./configure: line 421: test: make: integer expression expected

configure: error: sure

./configure: line 310: return: make: numeric argument required

./configure: line 320: exit: make: numeric argument required

It wasn't. You meant v15 maybe?

According to github repository : https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/releases
The latest Kodi Helix is 14.0rc3
Patch for the server and the binary for scan library no more compile with kodi (v14)
Personnaly , I'm running helix headless and I run this command :

Code:
xbmc-send --action 'UpdateLibrary(video)'

This do exactly the same than before , but you need to have the server running.

I prefer the docker version because my server is est Debian testing , and I can't control lib update taht break compiling xbmc headless.
Docker aim to do the work one time and to be sure it work the same everywhere at anytime ! Smile
