Are you being a dick or just offensive?

In case you don't get it, asking "is this addon dead" is very rude.

Sorry for being a rude offensive dick - you are right, I was tired, and an idiot. Apologies are in order.
Glad to hear it is still evolving as it seems to be _the_ key integrated and entirely unreplaceable feature of Kodi!

Looking forward to any development - and sorry for the dick-ness.

So, this has been driving me nuts for quite some time now and since I can't figure it out on my own, I guess I'm better off asking around. I am relatively new to the whole Kodi world so bare with me.

My first question is, why does Universal Album Scraper by default download album cover art in the worst possible quality? Did I miss a setting somewhere?

Lets move on.

Now that it has downloaded the lowest quality possible, I have to manually refresh the album info to replace it with a better
resolution one. Four out five times that does not simply work (downloading album information failed) and when it finally does...well I
must be doing something wrong, since going through thousands of albums like this is out of the question. It is all properly tagged, in correlation with Muscbrainz database.
Also, why does it sometime revert back the fanart to default one when there's been an album added of that given artist? That is annoying.

I also tried this cd art manager addon thing, disabled universal scraper, downloaded all the necessary art (it didn't even download half of the stuff I have in the library
and I'm not talking about unknown garage bands here), still low resolution. (Probably did smth wrong there as well, but that's for another topic)

Do I have to start adding the art manually to my album folders (really not fond of the idea) or can someone point me in the right direction?

Thank you very much in advance for you help, having OCD and only partially working artwork is not a good mix. Confused

Get 10 albums in a music source, run the scraper on those and post the log.

Musicbrainz web service has been very poor recently, failing on 30% of requests. I'd be interested to see if it shows in your test log.

for future tagging install the fanart.tv cover art for Musicbrinz Picard and you get a 1000*1000 cover if its available

also cdArt manager is the best thing to get hires Cover art, but make sure you are using this version

Thank you for all the tips.

If I do decide to go the cdArt route, was I doing it right by disabling the universal scraper and setting it to local only, or is there more to it?
Maybe I was using the "wrong" version as I was only getting a fraction of the cover art downloaded.

I'll look into it tomorrow, thanks again.

You don't need to disble anything, just use cdart manager.
If there is a lokal cover kodi will use it

If you run into issues post in the cdart m topic and we figure it out Smile

MusicBrainz have made some improvements to their web service reliability which this scraper relies on.

Let me know if it is any better at scraping things now Smile

Looks like the Album scraper is "broken".

i always get a error message if i try to refresh the album infos from the AlbumInfo Dialog.

heres a log snipped:

and debug (from an other try):

i already checked if the album is available at TheAudioDB and allmusic and it is listed on both.

Thats just musicbrainz causing the 503 errors. Seems their API is dieing under the load again Sad

I'll inform them again, maybe its not actually fixed!

A temporary fix may be to replace all the scraper references to

http://musicbrainz.org/ws/2/release-group

with

http://musicbrainz-mirror.eu:5000/ws/2/release-group

I have not tested this though and don't think it would work globally as it would put too much pressure on the mirror.

Added ability to define MB mirror in scraper settings. Useful if you know a well performing mirror or you run your own...

Thanks for posting the mirrors. Do you know how often they are updated? I added some releases to MBZ two weeks ago. Unfortunately, they are not available via the mirror yet.
