Library mode broken on the nightly build
#1
Firstly, I want to say great job with the new release. I can finally play videos with TrueHD/DTSMA without having to jump through hoops!

It's that upgrade which lead me to this problem.

If i navigate to:

Videos -> Recently Added Movies : I see the latest movies I have
Videos -> Movies : I see nothing.

The same is true for TV Shows.

At first I thought it might be my configuration since all my content is on a NFS server, Using mysql to keep everything in sync, and with a symlink to the thumbnails to prevent having to download details multiple times. I've tried clearing out the library, dropped the tables in mysql, and went to a generically created .xbmc to see if the problem still exists, which it does. I do have my "content" set properly, using the proper scrapers, etc.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and/or if there might be a solution to this problem.

System Details:
Lubuntu 12 (Fresh Install)
XBMC Nighty PPA -
xbmc-bin_2%3a11.0~git201206101853~3277107-1~ppa1~precise_amd64.deb
xbmc_2%3a11.0~git201206101853~3277107-1~ppa1~precise_all.deb
Thanks in advance,

Joe

Need debug log (wiki). The nightly/monthly that you are using updates the library DB, so something might be happening during that process. Also, be sure to use the same version on each machine so that they all use the same DB.

If all else fails, export the library, drop the MySQL DBs, update all XBMC boxes, then reimport (so that it repopulates the MySQL DBs). Make sure the xbmc MySQL user has privileges to create new DBs. (same advice as on here: HOW-TO:Sync multiple libraries/Upgrading XBMC from v10 to v11 (wiki))

Also, if you are using the <name> parameter in your advancedsettings.xml file for MySQL, try removing it. Some people have reported that helping, since then XBMC uses the default name (MyVideos60.db, though I think it will be MyVideos64.db on the newer builds).

I've tried it with just the default install, no fancy library sharing. I am still getting the same results (not using mysql).

I've noticed a couple of other weird things but I am not sure if it is the theme or XBMC. I will take a screen grab and attach the image in the next post.

This Works. Clearly it is reading my DB and pulling the data needed to show me the results.

Shows absolutely nothing. Not sure what is going on here.

I've added my directory path and set the content to TV Shows. I've let the scraper do its thing and finish. I now have a new Menu Item on the same menu bar as Weather, Pictures, Videos, ETC. This menu item is called TV Shows. If I click that this is what I see.

I've installed the nightly build on a brand new install of Lubuntu. I've only installed the packages which were required for xbmc to work (those chosen for me). My directory is an NFS Directory, set up using xbmc's nfs path option rather than a mount at the OS level. The xbmc version was downloaded today (when i took those grabs/log/crated the video db).

I'll gladly provide any additional information you might need and/or help with testing should it be needed.

I've changed my setup for now so that each install is its own install using its own data files. I figured this would be easier to see if it was some sort of mash-up between versions or if it was isolated to the nightly, which it appears that it is.

This has indeed been fixed! Thanks a lot guys!

There is an issue with XBMC locking up while playing videos but I'll start a new thread with a new log file when that happens the next time.
