Linux Motherboard Recommendation for OpenELEC/Linux
#1
I've been recommending this board a lot recently....

Want a simple all in one board that does everything you require in OpenELEC? (or other linux based builds)

http://www.zotac.com/products/mainboards...oards.html

Does all formats, deinterlaces 1080i nicely and will do Dolby-TrueHD and DTS-Master Audio.
Wifi works surprisingly well too.
(Intel don't make the D2700 chips any more so this is now the only version on sale)

If you want a super compact build, pop an msata ssd on it with a pico-psu.

Zotac may be bringing out a new board later in the year that swaps the Atom for a low power Intel Core chip. Smile

The fan is a bit noisy. Swap it for a 80mm Noctua or Coolink Swif2. If you need to keep it low-profile then the Noiseblocker Blacksilent Pro 80mm is the same 15mm thickness.

Is that using the Giada board? How noisy is the fan?

Yes, the MI-D2500GT-M. It's much quieter than the 40mm HSF on my Celeron 847 board Smile. You can hear the whoosh of the air from 1m/3ft but definitely not across the room. There is no fan buzz. Core temps are decent around 60C (max is 90C) and the case stays cool. I like that this board has the mSATA and mini-PCIe slots. It has some other features I am still trying to figure out what they are like a L and R speaker motherboard header!
