WIP Google Music Addon
#61
Hey Foreverguest,

I installed your version on the latest daily build for openelec (OpenELEC-Generic.i386-devel-20121108092049-r12431.tar.bz2) from here: http://sources.openelec.tv/tmp/image/

After I installed

Install is fine (sorta, see below), config is fine, but when i try to use it, I get a script failed error. As per this suggestion (http://openelec.tv/forum/128-addons/3979...ddon#46666) I do this and I at least get to see my music... however I am never able to play it.

Maybe it is openelec, but after I installed the addon, xbmc no longer recognizes my sound card card and gives me an error under system > audio > No device (where it usually says ALC 88)...

I will report back with openelec 2.0, as its based on eden and the latest daily builds are frodo.

//edit on the openelec 2.0 build, I was able to get it to play HOWEVER no music is played. the timer is going, the visual is going, the default sounds for the skin still work. just no audio from the addon. so it doesn't break my soundcard this time...
//edit2. I went back and deleted apilogging.pyo, and it works!

Hi Guys

I feel like a total noob at the moment but I just keep getting the script failed error when I'm trying to run this on the ATV2.

I've installed v0.3 of the Google Music Addon and I pretty sure that I've made all the script alterations but I'm still not getting past the script error when I try to load up the addon.

Here is a copy of my log file: http://pastebin.com/s3J1pXNV

I'd be really greatful if someone could hold my hand through this.

Thanks

Rob

I see you have 'Permission denied' errors caused by the gmusicapi.log file.

Try to replace the file xbmc/addon/script.module.gmusicapi/lib/gmusicapi/utils/apilogging.py by a newer one on this link:
https://github.com/vially/xbmc-gmusicapi...logging.py

And delete the file apilogging.pyo.

Fantastic! No more script errors.

The only issue I have now is that none of my tracks seem to be visible. All the options are blank.

Any ideas?
My mistake! I went to 'All Song' and it downloaded the cache.

Thanks again!!!

Playlists are working for me! 30 tracks or so.
All songs won't work, I've got 3500 tracks.

Excellent work, I hope you can fix the "all songs" view limit of 999.

One question, is the audio quality being downgraded? I can't tell what bitrate the music is playing at, all my songs are uploaded and stored on Google at 320kbps.

For 'permission denied' errors you have to replace the file xbmc/addon/script.module.gmusicapi/lib/gmusicapi/utils/apilogging.py by a newer one on this link:
https://github.com/vially/xbmc-gmusicapi...logging.py

The log shows timed out errors, that could be related to network problems, try to test in different network environment.

Try the version below, it should have the 999 limit fixed.

Hi dallasnights,

I know you've been struggling to get this addon to work since the first release and since you still haven't been able to get it to work I'll do my best to assist you to fix this.
As foreverguest suggested this seems to be a network problem. The first thing I would try would be to see if I can get the Unofficial-Google-Music-API to work from the terminal.

Please try that and let me know how that works.

PS: I'll be online for the next couple of hours so maybe we can fix this over skype/gtalk

Look forward to working with you

Hey guys. I've been looking into dallasnights' problem and one thing I've found was that apparently he might have a problem accessing secured (https://) websites from his ATV 2.
Does anyone here know any other addons which use https so we can see whether this is indeed the problem?

Or can anyone who has an ATV2 test wheter: `wget https://www.google.com` fails on their machine as well?

Thanks!

Thanks foreverguest, i will try this weekend.

Any idea on the bitrate of the stream? Music seems to sound not as good on my HT setup from this addon, lower volume and general quality seems lower than my 320Kbps MP3s from the NAS.

Can a setting such as talked about here be implemented into the addon to force it to stream the highest quality stream?
Quote:Google Play offers the option to only stream songs at high quality, regardless of the bandwidth currently available.

Access Google Play Music app on device
Touch ‘Menu’ button on device and select ‘Settings’
Check the box next to ‘Stream high quality’

Otherwise unless it has been forced in the program to stream a selected bitrate i believe the stream quality is based on the internet speed, of which mine is 6Mbps, though should be enough for the high quality bitrate (320kbps) i would like to make sure it truly is.
