Hi folks,
I've hit a wall on a problem scanning new audio files into XBMC. I've never had a problem with this before and I'm pretty sure that this is the first set of albums I'm importing since upgrading to Eden. I'm running [XBMC 11.0 GIT: UNKNOWN (COMPILED : MAR 24 2012) NON-PVR BUILD]. The OS is Linux 2.6.38 (Linuxmint 11).

The error I'm running into is "RetrieveMusicInfo - No tag found for ..." on the scan (relevant part of debug log is attached). I ripped about a dozen CDs (using EAC) and set the tags (with MP3Tag), the same way for all the albums. About five of the albums were correctly imported and the rest were not. All of the albums (12) were added to Media Monkey correctly with all the tags showing up correctly.

The closest similar problem I could find here is in http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...eMusicInfo but there doesn't seem to be a solution as far as I can tell.

I've tried:

1. "Touching" the files and reimporting. No luck.
2. Re-editing and re-saving the files in Mp3Tag (and in PuddleTag) and retry the import. No luck.
3. Deleting my entire library (MyMusic18.db) and rescanning my entire collection. No luck. (The same albums were excluded)

Try alternative tagging program first.
Or delete userdata/database/MyMusic7.db

That is what i could find so far.

Thanks for the reply - I tried both PuddleTag on Linux and Mp3Tag on Windows without success. I've used both programs successfully in the past.

I also did delete the DB file. I had both MyMusic7.db and MyMusic18.db in my temp directory and I deleted them both before rebuilding. No sucess.

jmarshall: I did (see the original post). The files were imported into both MediaMonkey and Banshee and neither had a problem reading the metadata. I'd really appreciate it if you can take a look at the file I uploaded when you have a moment ( http://www.bajkhan.com/tempaccess/Astrud..._Love.flac ) and let me know if there's anything obviously incorrect. Downloaded your file.
I can confirm that my Win7 file explorer can see the tags. ( flac handler installed http://www.mediafire.com/?2o8o1z5so3l2l6k )
But that's as far as i can check, cause i don't have Linux atm.

Thanks for the effort, massiv.

I think the problem is that XBMC appears to not import the file if an id3v2 tag exists in addition to the VorbisComment. I looked at some files that included both VorbisComment and id3v1 tags and they imported fine, but those that had VorbisComment and id3v2 did not.

In any event, I deleted all the id3 tags and the files imported into XBMC.

Now I just have to figure out if it was EAC, PuddleTag or Mp3Tag that wrote both types of tags to the files and if there's a setup option that I missed that would prevent it from happening again.

id3v2 tags should NOT and should NEVER be in a FLAC. It's not a FLAC file otherwise.

I had the same problem as well, and after stumbling on this thread I resolved the issue using Musicbrainz Picard. Here is a screenshot of the menu:



Make sure to remove ID3 tags from FLAC files.
I also cleared the checkmark for ID3v1 tags too.
