i have installed XBMC on XP 64 bit on my PVR. However I cannot start the program, it brings up an error stating it has a read/write problem for the log file. Any advice appreciated

We need to see a debug log (if there is one). Open the debug log by pressing Windows-R and in the Run dialog type:
(including the quotes). Click OK and the log should open in Notepad. Copy and paste the log into http://pastebin.com/ and post the link it gives you here.
