@baijuxavior: Awesome add-on with excellent level of support! It made my HTPC launch much simpler! It should be included into standard Win XBMC distribution IMHO.
There are few issues with it on my setup though
My setup: Windows Server 2012 Essentials, XMBC 12.0 with default skin, MCE Remote, dedicated Standard user account to run XBMC with Auto-logon, XBMC Launcher 3.1 with all default options (I do not install XBMC Launcher MCE remote shortcuts, because I have my own customization, I do not customize Shutdown dialog mostly because of the problems explained below).
I also have your Add-Cascading-Power-Menu-in-Desktop-Context-Menu.zip and Add-System-Tools-Cascading-Menu-in-Windows-7.zip installed on that box, mostly for troubleshooting purposes.
Young kids and wife are important part of the setup too.
This is why all instructions like "press this magic button combination", "enter admin password" and "do some other magic dance" are not an option for me. My requirement is that everything should be controlled by MCE remote, no keyboard or admin level access from the console should be involved. IMHO that is a normal requirement if the person who setups HTPC is not the solely user of it.
First of all before installing XBMCLauncher I had to promote XMBC user account temporarily to Administrator level.
Otherwise installer is asking to enter admin account credentials and is executed under that admin user profile and of course shell is replaced for that admin account and not for XBMC user.
I figured it the hard way
After putting XBMC user back to Standard level I still have some problems that cannot resolve:
1) Restart/Sleep/Shutdown options that are installed to the Start menu do not work. They just show desktop and do nothing else. If I say "run as admin" on them - they work just fine. BTW menu items from Add-Cascading-Power-Menu-in-Desktop-Context-Menu.zip work just fine for that standard user.
2) From standard XBMC Shutdown menu if I use anything other than Exit - it closes XBMC and does not go neither to Start menu, nor starts and explorer, just shows black screen. If I try to start Task Manager (with Ctrl+Shift+Esc) - it will of course ask for admin credentials and if I start "explorer.exe" from Task manager - explorer will be executed under admin user profile and a lot of interesting side affects will be happening (like screen saver with password - of course I do have it for Admin account!) and write access to my media library (which XBMC user does not have).
3) Power submenu in desktop context menu stays empty after the install. So I had to uninstall it and use your Add-Cascading-Power-Menu-in-Desktop-Context-Menu.zip which works like a charm.
4) "Win" button is not recognized by windows under XBMC user. Not sure if this is related to XBMC launcher, but I don't have any other software that installs any keyboard shortcuts. So, under XBMC user I cannot access Start screen at all unless I start explorer under Admin.
Any advice on how to solve these problems?
Some minor improvement suggestions:
1) Make XMBC tray app menu cascading - it has so many (very useful) options that they don't fit on the display in 720p mode and some NVidia video cards have an overscan problem with some displays which makes it impossible to see top and bottom scrolling arrows of that tall menu.
2) Add a keyboard shortcut to launch explorer if it is not started yet. For instance, standard Win+E which launches File Explorer if "explorer.exe" is already running.
