Since there seems to be some more interest in the music section lately I'll bump this fairly old request.

This feature has more or less been wished for quite often.

Since mixed playlists more or less work, the option to queue a track (be it a video or a music track) to another playlist besides the now playing list would be very sweet too,

And more generally speaking from a user's perpective I don't really see the big advantage in having two separate playlists for music and video. One unified now playing list would work for me very well.

It should now be possible to do this with a context menu add-on, I think. Are add-ons allowed to edit saved .xml playlists? I'm not sure.

hello alI to would like to see this feature incorporated. When adding a new album from a single artist, movies or compilation it would be nice to, as you listen for the first time a track one could the deleted or allocate it to a existing or new playlist.

a media center should not only concentrate on video .

There are massive numbers of music lovers that require such a functionality. As I indicated in an other of my posts J river does this brilliantly.

Kodi is brilliant for its plugins, scrapers and efforts on audio books.
Best regards to all

Hi All,

I totally agree that an "Add to playlist" button is essentially needed. i have around 15000 songs and i would like to easily add any song to a specific playlist while browsing my library. Moreover when i try to add playlist there is no a search button in case i want to pick directly a song and add it to playlist.

Hope this feature can be added later on in Kodi. However it is or not Kodi still the best.

Thanks.

New Year, new hope that there will be an addon to add movies to a playlist while scrolling through a library

Hope too that this comes in one of the next releases. We have a lot episodes and movies and my 3 womens will have there shows and movies separated Wink

When we have a new tv-show they would not scroll to our 400 existing shows, so the biggest wish of my family is to have an "add to playlist" (with option to select a specific playlist) button.

Playlist Append is designed to work with basic playlists and it has not been thoroughly tested. I would advise backing up your existing playlists before using this add-on.

This add-on will add a context menu item [Add to playlist] for lists containing episodes, movies, or songs. Selecting it will display a list of available *.m3u files available in special://home/userdata/playlists/video or special://home/userdata/playlists/music depending on the list you are viewing; and it should append it to the selected playlist.

Thanks for the addon, but it is not exactly what i looking for. it is close to it but....

for movies and music it is nice but for tvshows i can not use it. I think we need here a way to but the komplett TVShow in a smart playlist. My girls will kill me when i say "here, you can put all your shows in a playlist BUT u have all episodes in one view"

I need here a way to but the shows in a simple playlist and not in a basic .m3u. We can life with one list for movies and one for tvshows per person.

Example:

Wife will have Lost, Supernatural and so on in a playlist.
The big daughter will have Lost, AdventureTime, ICarly and other kids stuff in it.
The little daughter will have only Anime and Kids shows.

I hope it is to understand, my english is a little bit outdated Wink

thanks for the addon. You wrote that you are using *.m3u files. In the video section standard playlists are xsp. Is there a way to use the available playlists ?

I've been playing around with it. I've tested it with music and with music videos. It works really well on songs. It doesn't on music videos. I now see that you don't mention music videos in your addon description. If you find the time, maybe you could look into music videos as well.

Thanks a lot for your work!

Are you currently using http://kodi.wiki/view/Smart_playlists ? Somewhat off topic but have you looked at: http://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:LazyTV

I do not use playlists and when I was testing video playlists it saved it as *.m3u. I assume you are referring to http://kodi.wiki/view/Smart_playlists being *.xsp?

My concern with http://kodi.wiki/view/Smart_playlists is the number of filters available. What rule(s) should be applied when adding an item to a smart playlist? Something as simple as the snippet below or more complicated?
Code:
<rule field="title" operator="contains">
        <value>Scrubs</value>
</rule>

Are music videos displayed in the video library? Do you have a sample playlist; and is it *.m3u or *.xsp?

I should probably start a new thread for this discussion.

@curti

thanks for your answer. I thought that playlists is not that what i need. I want to add a tag and with this tag i make a smart_playlist.

@elenthil

take a look to this addon. I think this is what your are looking for. With Isengard and Jarvis it works , but with Krypton there is a problem.
