[LINUX] - Xbmc hangs when playing video
#1
Hi,

I am using Eden PVR version installed from the pulse eight repos, on ubuntu 11.10.

Sometimes (quite often) when i start a video, i can hear sound for about 10 seconds, but no video, and then xbmc hangs completely, and the only option is till kill the xbmc process and restart xbmc.

Seems like several people have the same issue using the non pvr version of xbmc as well : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...light=hang

Is there anyway the fixes mentioned by fernetmenta in the above thread can be included in the pulse eight packages?

Any input or help is very appriciated, i can collect logs if needed.

The patches (complete rewrite of VDPAU interface) have not even hit mainline master. I think it makes no sense trying to backport them to Eden. They are include in xvba testing builds: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=116996

Hi thanks for the reply!

Tried that version today (the vdpau test build) It did not hang like before.

But I could not get any video to play properly, I got lag/dragging and choppy playback no matter what settings I tried.

Could you post a debug log?
