OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi
I have XBMC running with OpenELEC and with several builds from rbej (BTW: Thanks for this work - very easy for me as a beginner with Linux etc!). On my NAS I've TVHeadend running, using a Sundtek SkyTV Ultimate DVBS2-stick. Everything works fine, Even streaming of 1080p-files. Watching 720p-TV-stations is also not a problem.
But starting ANIXE HD or SERVUS TV HD, both 1080i-Stations will not work - only black screen. But I can live with that. Main problem is that in 3-4 out of 10 times every swithing to another channel ends with a black screen and no sound, too. Then I have to stop and open the channel again. In most cases it will work OK. This behaviour is on both HD and SD-channels. Please have a look to this log:

I don't know where I have to look for a solution. Please help!
Upgrade went well, Sabnzbd-Suite is working. One issue I've had since 2.99.2 and still exists in rbej's build (didn't happen in 2.99.1) is every initial boot (either reboot or power on) halts with an error about being unable to mount /dev/sda1. I have /storage on an external USB HD (self powered), but if I pull the power plug out of the Pi and plug it back in it boots up no problem. Are there any logs I can provide to help you figure out why it always fails the first time?
@popcornmix

Thanks for the pointer. Didn't think it would but just wondered (hoped)!

I have tried with the Rbej Frodo Final Version 1 build and it shows the subtitles so I am guessing it is either down to the patch or something else in the new build.
Right. I have now gone from Rbej Frodo Version 1 to the newsest build and my subtitles appear to work again. I have no idea what happened the first time and apologies for not checking more thoroughly!
Frodo Final Version 1 is old. Please try Frodo Final version 2.

rbej, your Frodo Final 2 build works great. popcornmix's patch didn't seem to have any adverse affects, subtitles were displaying just fine for me.

I did a fresh install, the only thing I found odd was that the default <imageres> was still the low 256px which I thought odd given the recommendations to run the GUI at 900p or 1080p.
I would like to know how rbej final version 2 is installed on sd card from windows. anyone?
Thanks
The easiest way to install for windows is to get a normal pre-built image and then update to this build using normal openelec update method.

As per frumpsnake, despite what I first believed I too I have had no adverse affect with this version. I have no idea why the subtitles did not work the first time but I am investigating this as an XBMC issue rather than an issue to do with the patch.
I don't want to install for windows. I want to install from windows on an SD card for raspberry pi
That is what I meant, apologies for the misleading 'for'.

There are prebuilts of openelec for the raspberry pi that you can just write to the SD card using an imager program. A simple google search will throw up step by step instructions.

Then, once you have the card imaged, you can follow the update steps on the openelec wiki that will tell you how to update to a new build. They are linked to from the post detailing the custom build. Again this can be done from a windows machine.

Fresh install or upgrade? If you're upgrading it's pretty easy...

1) Download the latest rbej version 2 image - as this is a bz2 archive you'll need something like 7-Zip installed on your Windows PC to open it.

2) Open the archive and drill down into the "target" folder, then drag and drop the four files in this folder to the "Update" folder on your Pi (access your Pi using its IP address eg. \\192.168.0.12, or possibly \\openelec)

3) Reboot your Pi, wait for it to update itself to the new version, and enjoy.

If you just want to install a fresh image, then follow these instructions using rbej's version 2 image.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.
OK thanks guys
I hooked up the pi directly to the router and tried to log in after installing a fresh openelec build and I can not log in. I tried the IP I know from looking in my router and tried \\ openelec
OK never mind I'm in
Awesome! new codecs working where as they didn't before.
Thanks

In older version (perhaps pre Frodo) used to be able to press small step seek forward (+30.00 secs) multiple times in quick succession to move forward by cumulative amount i.e. press 4 times to get 2 mins forward. Combined with the large step forward (+10mins) gave reasonable navigation since fast forward has never worked on pi (omxplayer).

This seems to have stopped now. Only one small step is registered and it wont register another until playback has recommenced. So you press.....the press.....then press..... Navigation becomes very cumbersome

This "feature" is present RC2 and 13137 but 12679 for example is OK.

regards

Andy
