I currently see no events in /var/log/* when the OSX formatted USB is plugged
even though the LED on the device notes getting power - at a min a dialog
should note the action and note that the drive is not readable or similar.

The options file within the RPi source tree notes this 'HFS Tools' with the following comment "build and install hfs filesystem utilities" - so does the above "Install HFS Tools" relate to the topic/question noted or is it referencing something different ? If its a question of HFS vs. HFSPlus, well there are already linux solutions and packages for that.
In short, is there HFS(Plus) support or not ?
