I am trying to figure out what to do with my old Dell 530. I think I want to convert it to a Linix Media server that can stream all my movies and audio to my PS3 and IPad 3 on my local network and over the internet if possible.
The Dell has a core 2 quad q6600 chip and 1 gig of ram. The hard drive is only 500 gig so I may upgrade that but not for a couple of months.
I currently use PMS to stream movies to my PS3 and it works fine. I would like to make this system dedicated to streaming Movies, Audio, Pics, etc to the PS3 and my Ipad 3 on local wifi and over the internet if possible.
Can someone tell me if this is possible with xbmc and how to do it?
Would it make more sense to connect the PC to my main tv and stream only to my IPAD?
