Sudden frame drop and poor performance - Ubuntu 12.04 Acer Aspire Revo R3700 ION2
#1
Hi

Until a couple of weeks back, my XBMC installation worked perfectly. I can't see why, but now performance in XBMC is very poor (even mouse pointer refresh rate) and about a 6th of all frames in videos are being dropped.
I am guessing a recent Ubuntu system update is conflicting with XBMC. I haven't changed the Nvidia driver or anything else for that matter.
VLC plays videos without a problem.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing XBMC, with the same result.
I've looked through all the video settings within XBMC and tried different variations, ahain with the same result.

OS: Ubuntu 12.04
Machine: Acer Aspire Revo R3700

If anyone can throw any ideas at me, they would be much appreciated. Smile

Tried reinstalling the nvidia video driver?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I removed the nvidia driver completely and re-installed it. Made no difference. Also, I didn't mention, XBMC freezes a lot now, sometimes the whole system.

I ran debug and XBMC-CPU runs at about 107%, if that makes sense.

As soon as I start XBMC, the mouse poiner stutters and freezes for a second now and then.
