(xbmc 11) HD video very choppy
#1
Hi to all, this is the first time I write on this forum.

I have a ASUS E35M1-I DELUXE motherboard (which comes with an integrated HD6310 graphic card) with 4GB ram and a 1TB hard disk.

I installed XBMC 11 following these instructions: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...th_AMD_GPU, the only variation being that the latest drivers available from AMD are 12.10 (and not 12.6/12.4 as in the instructions). The problem is that HD video, both 1080p and 720p, is very very choppy.

This is what I tried to solve the problem:
- install on xubuntu and lubuntu, both 32 and 64bit
- install on windows7
- try the drivers provided by ubuntu and the ones from the AMD website

but nothing worked.
Low-res videos work as expected, but having no HD sucks Sad

I'm starting to think that the motherboard is defective.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Forums Big Grin

Have a look at deinterlacing and set it to auto or off

While a video is playing bring up osd

See these screenshots for how to

Image

then save for all videos

Hi! Thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately the setting was already on "off".

I tried it with different files, but it's still choppy Sad

I activated the debug, it says that while playing my cpus are at 30% more or less, and the CPU-XBMC (I think) is at 60% more or less.

The only error in the log file is that it cannot initialize VDPAU.

Any other ideas?

No, your on a AMD system it doesn't use vdpau it uses vaapi, your problem is xbmc 11 Eden doesn't have proper vaapi support

Install xbmc from https://launchpad.net/~wsnipex/+archive/xbmc-xvba-eden for Eden v11 or better yet use the pre-frodo which is even better from https://launchpad.net/~wsnipex/+archive/xbmc-xvba

Have you enable DXVA2, select Auto Detect as Render Method and disable everything else in system/settings/video/playback?
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
