This add-on isn't working fine anymore.
In theater mode when i play a movie the lights doesn't turn off completely.

If i enable the Override option when playback starts then yes, the lights goes total black but immediately, not respecting the 4 seconds dim time..
I already have done every possible test, i think it's not usable anymore Sad

I'm using hue plugin since kodi 17.6 by disabling the mediacodec surface.

Last week automatic update to kodi 18 let the movies stutter while playing without mediacodec.

I tried to implement the code mentioned here https://github.com/koying/SPMC/wiki/How-...Surface%3F

But doesn't work. Any solution?

Just updated to Kodi V18 Leia on Linux LibreElec 9.0.0 and the Philips Hue Ambilight plugin isn't working properly.

Seems in the add-on settings you now have to turn off the setting "Disable for short movies" or the lights don't change colours.

Also I had the setting "Force Light(s) on (even if off) turn on and now when playing music (not a video) via the Kodi Music library, the Hue lights are turned on.
Turning this setting off stops this happening for music and also for videos which isn't good.

Also the WaveForHue music visualization also appears to now be broken with Kodi Leia.

Gutted....

I thought I should let everyone know that the holy grail is here.. Philips hue Entertainment via Hyperion - https://github.com/hyperion-project/hyperion/issues/791

Being we can't build files with LibreElec I made the switch to Raspbian and it was so worth it. I ended up using the Hyperion NG version that zlokomatic kindly created as it produced better colours - Its a million times better than any addon I've ever used, the lights now keep up with the TV perfectly!

I've set a bash script to run whenever the blue button is pressed, to enable/disable Hyperion so the solution feels fully integrated thanks to this persons blog - http://blog.nadnerb.co.uk/?p=11

That looks massively complicated!

Hi all, after a couple of years I've decided to get back into kodi plugin development.
I started out simple with a small plugin that connects to the hue bridge, and allows you to toggle rooms on/off and apply scenes to them. There is also basic support for uPnP autodiscovery of the bridge.
You can find the code here: https://github.com/rlKoekie/hue.controller . Comments and feature requests are welcome!

i Tried ur controller, here are some comments

-> maybe start own thread/topic for your controller, easier to follow up, since this addon is dead?
-> after installing, i go to "configuring", -> i dont see any option to configure, only to "soften" which doesnt work
-> opening the addon, i can chose my rooms, and apply scenes...
but what i actually want and cant seem to find how to configure, i want to auto dim lights when movie starts, and turn on on pause

your addon cant do that?

Hey, thanks for trying it and giving me some feedback!
Thread: this might be a good idea, I stumbled across this one sort of by accident.
Configuring: There is currently only an option to set the IP of your Hue bridge, which can be used if autodetect fails.
Functionality: Good to hear that it finds your rooms and the scenes, that means the code also works on a Hue bridge that's not my own :-)
Auto dimming: Currently this is not in the plugin. It is my next planned thing to work on for the plugin.

Hi, I'm glad someone will create a Philips HUE plugin as a cinema lighting.
Notes: installing zip in kodi 18.2 Win10 is failing.
Requirement: HUE as cinema - play (turn off lights slowly), pause (shine some lights dim), stop (shine lights slowly).
Thank you for this activity because this plugin doesn't exist for Kodi 18.2 working. Sorry for my English

hey
ur welcome
are you dutch? (if so, so am i ;p)
are you active on dutch htforum?

about the configuring, now i saw, im using a skin which didnt show me correctly the configuring stuff, not your fault
the thread, you really should do Wink keep me informed if its there
about the functionality i agree with pet
Most important stuff is  HUE as cinema -  when pressed on play (turn off lights slowly), pause (shine some lights dim), stop (shine lights on slowly again).

you guessed correctly :-) And nope, I'm not active on the dutch htforum.

good news: I figured out how to make stuff happen on player status changes (playback started/stopped/paused/resumed/etc). It is not too complex, but it does require a separate companion plugin (I'm now writing it). Once that is finished I'll improve the github page and make a separate thread.

My plan for setting things up (input welcome):
The hue controller plugin will stay as is: it shows your hue setup and allows you to toggle rooms and apply scenes. In addition to this the scenes will get a context menu, with options to set the selected scene as "apply when starting/resuming video playback", "apply when pausing video playback", "apply when stopping video playback". If you select one of these options, they get stored in the plugin configuration.
The companion plugin (currently called script.service.hue.events) will then look up and apply these scenes whenever playback status is changed.

Other options I'm thinking about are:
- a toggle for only changing the lighting if it is actually on (I have no need for movie lighting when the sun is up)
- a speed setting for the transition time when applying scenes

Once I've got this working I'll take a peek at windows support (sorry, low priority because I'm mostly running Linux)
