[FRODO Beta 1] XBMC crash on system software 5.0.1
#1
Hi all.

I am having a problem with getting XBMC FRODO Beta 1 running on my ATV2 Version 5.0.1 (or at least that is what it says in the about screen).

I installed Frodo Beta 1 using dpkg. I upgraded from This specific user-made build.

I can't launch XBMC. I go to the XBMC section, and choose to run it. On the screen a pinwheel spins and spins and spins, then goes back to the main menu.

If it helps, I do have PLEX installed on the ATV as well, but it is not running at all.

Syslog, syslog contains the last two days of the Apple TV's Activity.
Crash 1
Crash 2

I have also tried installing seatbeltunlock 1.0.4 with no luck, it just errors out about "Frontrow app md5sum is unknown, not patching".

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but I had problems with running an older version of Frodo on my Windows PC which has my MySQL database. Both of my ATV2s and Windows XBMC would crash whenever I booted up, they refused to upgrade the MySQL database version (or whatever the correct way of saying this is). I tested about 10 different nightlies on my Windows machine, and the only way to get it to work was to create a new database in the advancedsettings.xml file. So after doing that and doing a full library scan, and setting all devices to use the new MySQL database, I'm back up and running. I lost all of my Watched status icons, but the only way I could get the latest beta working was to use a different MySQL database. I don't have the log file anymore since I've now upgraded everything, but it said something along the lines of database doesn't exist and XBMC would never load. The version of the SQL db I was having issues with was 69.

You could have exported the old DB to xml and reimport using the newer version for saving the watched status (there is an option for exporting watched status into xml which has to be enabled for this).

I should still be able to do that, the SQL databases are there and I can just downgrade my XBMC temporarily. I will have to look up a guide. Thank you.

Ah nice, looks like it's just an addon to install. Link: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=129448

There is a log there, but it's from version 11, which is really weird. It's like XBMC didn't even run at all!

yeah looks like that. Not sure what it should tell you in that case - but if no xbmc.log is created we crash in a very very early state if even beeing started by ios...

Could you please try with this tetsversion end report back if it fixes the startup for you?

I downloaded and installed it, no change Sad. It still crashes before XBMC can run. XBMC.log has not changed.

I have the exact same problem. Although I have the "released" beta 1 installed.
My xbmc.log is not updated and the crash logs say the exact same thing.

The problem started when I installed this (http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topi...ex-010107/) version of the Plex client.

....

While writing this post I tried uninstalling the Plex client and XBMC started working again.

Something in the Frodo beta is not compatible with Plex as it worked just fine with Eden.

Even with the test build above, I tried uninstalling Plex, and XBMC Finally worked!

Thank goodness I rarely use Plex. XBMC does a 100x better job.

Well we didn't change something like that in XBMC - so what makes you think that its something XBMC does and not something what Plex does?

I just though the problem was with XBMC, since that was the app that was crashing. I honestly didn't know what the hell was going on. I thought about it for a long time, and I decided to shrug it off for a bit. That was until I saw exstac's post about uninstalling Plex, It seemed like a unlikely solution and I thought I'd give it a try; the worst that could happen from it is forcing me to restore my ATV, right? I uninstalled Plex and XBMC worked immediately. I just wanted a solution to my problem and I found it.

I wasn't trying to offend anyone with asking for help, and if I did, I'm sorry.
