Linux OPENELEC: Audio crackle?
#1
Hello all.

On a few files I have noticed that in the first five minutes there is pop or a crackle distortion on the audio every few seconds. Having skipped to later on in the file it seems to disappear though I can't confirm this.

Can anyone suggest how I can go about diagnosing the problem here and fixing it? I tested one file on a Windows PC with Media Player Classic Home Cinema and the crackle wasn't there.

Sound is running through HDMI direct to the TV (Panasonic TX-P42G30B). Audio settings are hdmi (alsa) on both output and passthrough.

System info:

Acer Aspire Revo RL70
AMD E450
AMD Radeon HD 6320
Openelec 2.0.0
XBMC Eden 11

Regards.

In case you never figured this out...I just today decided to install OpenELEC on a Revo 1600 and ran into a popping (which I could describe as crackling) sound on my bedroom TV. I had things set to HDMI and 2.0 audio. I believe the problem was related to the "Boost volume on down mix" setting. When I turned that off, it seemed to go away. I'm not sure if it was actually my TV speakers popping due to being given too hot a signal or what.
