However, for some reason, the only res option available in xbmc is 1280x672Huh I cant cahnge it. My TV says the signal is 1080@60, and the settings on the ATV1200 say its 1080, but XBMC does not have any other options...

Any ideas??

The best explanation I've come across is in the second post of the thread
http://www.pivosforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2341

executive summary Smile - video gets out at 1080p, while the UI is rendered at 720p, upscaled to 1080p on out
I've tried changing it but all that I managed is getting UI in 1080p upscaled once more- you just get a part of the screen visible (left upper part)

anyway since I now know that video gets out at 1080p I dont mind the UI beeing rendered at 720p

srle,

Did you try commenting "ro.platform.has.1080scale=2" (or whatever the number your firmware has) in /system/build.prop?? I tested an Android player some weeks ago, and I managed to get full 1080p GUI resolution commenting that line. Then I got a wonderful XBMC box rendering @7fps max.

How are you so sure about the video rendering resolution?

Regards.

I did - changed build.prop - commented out ro.platform.has.1080scale, changed const.window.w, const.window.h, then look at the and changed scripts reset_display_mode.sh and set_display_mode.sh but still did not manage to get anything more then 1080 upscaled once more.

I can aslo confirm Netflix runs very nice with the latest firmware and I do have working AirPlay.

I might add, I don't use XBMC for local files, MX Player does a fine job playing my 1080p/24 videos.

I also own a PIVOS XIOS, and the ATV1200 is much faster going through XBMC menus and loading plugins.

how come you dont use xbmc for local files?

XBMC nightlies are not hardware decoded, so my local files stutter.

I guess I could use a pivos or geniatech xbmc release, but neither seems to work perfectly with plugins for now.

Eventually, as XBMC for Android matures, I will use it for local files as well.

I have no problems running a wide variety of plugins on the Pivos XBMC build.
