YES! This is the fix!!! Start xbmc as you instructed & it works with openGL acceleration just fine & no crashing!!!! No external player needed!

i have the kodi shutting down right after the splash/startup screen appears yet kodi has been working fine since i installed it the only real thing i can think of that has changed is i activated iptv simple pvr client and live tv which as far as i can see from the log is the reason for it crashing http://pastebin.com/mBQyUkUB

any ideas how i fix it guys

never mind uninstalling pvr from linux sorted it Smile

I had the same problem. I installed XBMC, and Kodi 15.2 and they crashed on showing logo.
Both solutions above solved the problem, but
works much faster, while
rendering allways_software works, but is terribly slow.
Exec=sh -c "MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.0 xbmc"
works much faster. Also propertary intel drivers seem to work faster than default ones.

First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
