Win Download of subtitles not working from Subscene
#1
I have been having problems downloading subtitles from Subscene some time now.
Download from sites such as Opensubtitles, Swesub and Undertexter works just fine.

The problem exist in both XBMC 11.0 Eden and in XBMC 12.0 Frodo RC3.
I'm running Windows 7.

I have saved a log from one attempt to download a subtitle from Subscene:
http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=27703

I also found another user's log with the same problem. Did not find any report of this user's problem though.

I get the same error...
The odd part is that the URL is valid, but it doesn't lead directly to the subtitle file, only to the download page, perhaps the addon should be updated to "harvest" the direct URL from the page itself? (Or do they have an engine that outputs the subtitles file if the agent is XBMC/any other automated tool...)

First, I want to thank Wideman for a great bug report. One gets tired of reading "this doesn't work" with any more info. Yours is concise and gives good info.

Unfortunately it fails in the most important part: A FULL DEBUG LOG. Wink Not a cut. Anyway, nice try. I appreciate it.

Mawrtin's log it's how it should be. Thanks man.

Although services are usually maintained by creators, just because you tried to give good report I'll check it and let you know.

Will have to wait until the weekend though. Quite busy during the week.
Always read the XBMC Online Manual,Frequently Asked Questions and search the forum before posting.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting use -> Log file.

Np bro. I've tried several times and the error looks just the same. Let me know if you need any more info/want me to try anything.

Thanks a lot for that fix. After a bit of googleing around and figuring out where to put it, it works perfectly.

For those wondering where to put the fix, it is (on Windows)

%AppData%Roaming\XBMC\addons\script.xbmc.subtitles\resources\lib\services\Subscene

You could've asked here Wink

The path should be: %appdata%\XBMC\addons\script.xbmc.subtitles\resources\lib\services\Subscene\
and the file to be replaced is service.py
The fix is in the next update as well if you are patient enough Smile
