2 disc movie format
#1
hi
i was wondering if it is possible to store 2 disc movies in folders
have been trying various ways to make it id the 2 discs of fantasia,
but it mainly just ends up finding them as copies of videodome when i scan them
so far i have tried these formats

My Movies\Fantasia\Fantasia 2000 (1999)\Fantasia 2000 (1999).Disc1
My Movies\Fantasia\Fantasia 2000 (1999) - Disc1
My Movies\Fantasia\Fantasia 2000 (1999)\Disc1
My Movies\Fantasia\Fantasia 2000 (1999)\CD1
My Movies\Fantasia 2000 (1999)\Disc1
My Movies\Fantasia 2000 (1999) - Disc1

but none of the above seem to work

do i have to rip the 2 disc movies so they appear as a single file like .iso
or convert them into a compact video file like .avi or .mkv?

i have alot of movies that i had originally ripped for mymovies.dk but it took alot of resources to run as my collection grew

I personally don't have any .iso doubles, so please refer to the links at the bottom in any event. I would think the operator cd1, cd2 just before the extension and after the movie name in the same folder should scrape as a stack with stack enabled. To double check, use the information and the file path should start with the word Stack:// best to use system clean-library for a fresh start.

Movie-cd1.avi
Movie-cd2.avi

I have a 5 part dvd collection stored with each Dvd stored as an .iso

I added CD1, CD2, etc.. after the year but before the extension .iso for example "Shogun (1980) CD1.ISO" then Shogun (1980) CD2.ISO" and so on

These are now stacked within the XBMC library as you would expect.

When using Eden if you select to play this collection you are prompted with a little pop up for which volume you'd like to start from.

Frodo behaves slightly different in that it will default to the 1st .iso, howevver you can use the context menu and the option 'Play part' which then gives the option to select the volume from the stack.

No they have to be in the same folder to use stacking.

Sorry missed your reply Neroes... you will need to convert the folders to .iso using something like imgburn (which is what I used) worked perfectly after that.

the problem you'll face if you don't do this is multiple entries in the library rather than stacked because stacking works on filename not folder name.

If these are separate movies in a series, perhaps a better option would be to use Movie Sets instead of file stacking:

LibreELEC 10.0.4 * ViMediaManager or TinyMediaManager | Raspberry pi 4b
Sharing media from NAS via NFS (optical out to receiver, HDMI to TV) | TV remote with CEC / Bluetooth keyboard

Well one example is the movie I own legit which is:

...\My.Totally.Legitimately.Owned.Movie.2000.iNTERNAL.BDRip.XviD-FLS\CD1\My.Totally.Legitimately.Owned.Movie.2000.CD1.iNTERNAL.BDRip.XviD-FLS.avi

...\My.Totally.Legitimately.Owned.Movie.2000.iNTERNAL.BDRip.XviD-FLS\CD2\My.Totally.Legitimately.Owned.Movie.2000.CD2.iNTERNAL.BDRip.XviD-FLS.avi

That stacks fine in "Videos->File" mode, and fine in when I go through "Movies" (Which I will call "Library mode" from now one) as well.

Then there's my movie about robots and carnivals, which when in library mode, displays its nine parts as 9 identical entries, and when stacked in file mode, displays a single entry which only plays the first part:

...\My.Own.Movie.About.Robots.And.Carnivals.1987.x264.AC3-[OnDeed]\My Own Movie About Robots And Carnivals - Part 1 - Opening [OnDeed] [941A8463].mkv

...\My.Own.Movie.About.Robots.And.Carnivals.1987.x264.AC3-[OnDeed]\My Own Movie About Robots And Carnivals - Part 2 - Franken's Gear [OnDeed] [9BE733E8].mkv

...\My.Own.Movie.About.Robots.And.Carnivals.1987.x264.AC3-[OnDeed]\My Own Movie About Robots And Carnivals - Part 3 - Deprive [OnDeed] [2363DE4F].mkv

etc...

I totally name them like scene releases just for kicks.

haha <-- laughing at my self here for the 10 edits I've made to this post as I kept mis reading / understanding the above post.

rename the files or edit the regex to compensate...

e.g

Robot Carnival Part1.mkv
Robot Carnival Part2.mkv
Robot Carnival Part3.mkv

Edit the Regex? I remember running in to a thread that mentioned that in my search to figure out what I needed to do, but I only skimmed it because I'd had a few at the time and was overtired and impatient. What does it involve? I'm definitely not renaming all these files (which is inconvenient on many levels) just so they'll appear in XBMC. Why can't XBMC just have an inbuilt method for handling this stuff? D= First world problems to be sure.

Regex is XBMC's inbuild method of handling this stuff.. so you can learn how to create expressions or rename the files.. problem solved.
