What’s the reason for this being banned/not discussed where the BBC iPlayer addons aren’t? Is it just to do with the author?

The addon isn't banned (the fact that this thread exists should be a hint at that ).

However if the repo that it comes from does contain banned addons (wiki) then that repo would be banned and not acceptable here.

I found this over the weekend and 2.4.5 works for me, with the exception of the kids stuff.  I haven't tried 2.4.6 yet (and will report back when I do!)

Thanks also for sharing, i installed v2.4.7 from git onto my kodi 17.6 but none of the videos will play at all

With the move to Matrix & Python 3 it would be great if someone could pick this addon up and make it compatible with Kodi 19. The 'Catchup' part still works great and on face of it the addon doesn't look too complicated, however trying to migrate it to Kodi 19 would be beyond my limited skills

I can confirm that this no longer works in Kodi 19. 

I did look at the code and ran it through 2to3, but who am I kidding, it was never going to be that easy!

It's way above my abilities i'm afraid.

I have it on a 17.6 fork but it still won’t work,so I think that means Kodi 19 isn’t the issue.
Any ideas ?

UPDATE it is still working on my 17.6 fork but only the ‘shows’ section,which is bang up to date. Live tv has been inoperative for a while

I have had to regress back to v18.9 just because of the ITV Player app as I use it often to watch catch up shows I have had to turn off app updates on my Android TV to stop Kodi auto upgrading to Matrix.

I agree. I'd add Britbox to that list as well. There's also Now TV, of course, but I'm allergic to Sky.

Sadly most Kodi/add-on development seems to concentrate on non-UK "channels".

There was a 5od (Channel 5) addon many years ago, before they killed it by adding DRM. Channel 4 has always used DRM so has never been an option. I don't know if these could now be created with Kodi adding DRM options, I'm no expert on how it all works.

Britbox is very shortly going to be available as a optional channel on Amazon Prime, so you should be able to access their content on Kodi using the Amazon addon. I used the same addon to access the Starz Channel on Prime when they were doing a 3 month special deal a couple of months back.

Recent press release said Britbox would be added to Amazon Prime Channels spring 2021.....so should be coming very soon.
