Just Bought Lenovo Q180
#1
Hi I have just bought a Lenovo Q180 to replace my Revo 3700 which is slowly dying a death. I notice from a lot of the threads relates to this machine that XBMC has had issues supporting AMD HW acceleration. Do the latest builds of Frodo support this card or do I need a more specialist build with support for hardware acceleration. I am normally a windows user but I am looking for a more stable platform so I plan to use either XBMCBuntu or may go for full 12.04 or I am tempted by OpenElec.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

I have had one. I have used bram77 script for ubuntu 12.10 with a lot of additional modifications by myself. The q180 works great if configured right.

Take a look at this thread: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=153116

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your query, but it seems that I've been asking a very similar question about the Revo L70, which also has AMD graphics hardware.

Essentially, it seems like either OpenELEC is the answer or to wait for the final/stable release of Frodo (or even to install Frodo RC3).

Thanks Sounds like Openelec is the way to go.
